Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a "Must See" neighborhood. Roam around and take in the Gothic Quarter understanding the history behind these buildings, Also, there are many great restaurants along the way

This is beautiful cathedral in the Gothic quarter. Its a special place to visit and not expensive to pay to walk inside. Stunning design and architecture, which is amazing and the stained glass windows is something to see. The area outside is vibrant with a lovely atmosphere of street music and food. It's just a short walk from the Rambla too.

Excellent Roman historical museum. Remains of a dye shop, fish shop, small road and early Christian church. Very interesting and not busy.

Placa Real seems like Placa Mayor (old main square) in the rest of Spain.
It's a rectangular square with many bars and restaurants at the ground level of the circling old residential buildings around it. The central part is dotted with palm trees and it is a popular meeting point.
However, I wouldn't consider having my drink or meal here, as it's a high tourist area.
Imo, it's rather a pass by, 10 min stop visit.

One of the biggest and most beautiful European old towns.
It is divided in several sections, each one with its own attractions.
You need several days to explore it properly. Don't focus just on the prime attractions, wander around and get lost, you'll be amazed how picturesque it is.
Not to frighten you, but watch your belongings - 10 years ago I was brutally robbed steps away from the Picasso museum.

The price of €9 is a little steep considering that this museum is on the smaller side. The audioguide was fantastic and gave a lot of info that I would've missed out on. The museum covers the history of Marijuana and hemp from ancient times, the wars, to pop culture. There is a large collection of glass bongs some of which are nothing less than pieces of pure art. The section on the history of hemp was really fascinating, and even the section about the legality of marijuana was more information than lobbying. However, the exhibit on how marijuana affects the body was very lacking and spoke more about CBD oil than marijuana itself.

Barcelona's port is a very picturesque and beautiful place to walk. As a continuation of the famous Rambla street which leads to it, they built the Rambla on the Sea.
The walkway takes you over water admiring yachts and boats with plenty of bars and restaurants, as well the Barcelona Aquarium.
Pleasant place to spend few hours.

Its meant to be one of the great streets in Europe, but I was just a little underwhelmed by it. Only here for a day on a cruise stopover, it is still one of the highlights of Barcelona, but doesn't really justify the hype. Spent an hour or so walking the length up to the top square, the pedestrian street is full of small cafes, bars, stalls, and the few performing artists, and street vendors. Still worth a visit ...

We really enjoyed our visit today and the variety of fish was great. However, it seemed a bit much to charge for a pamphlet to guide you around the exhibits. The exhibits were badly labelled.

As some of the reviewers have mentioned before some of the tanks felt too small. We were also terribly sad for the poor little penguins. They looked sad in that little tank. It didn't seem right.

The aquarium itself does seem a little dated. Despite the flaws we noticed, we did enjoy the experience. But seeing the penguins and watching people tap the glass at them was a bummer.

Very historic buildings within the Gothic Quarter. Close to the Barcelona Cathedral and Placa Nova Square. There is a real atmospheric feel to this area and well worth visiting.

Very unusual square, impressive somehow, recommended to pass by or even stay for a drink. Very high walls on the sides and a tall tree.

Set on a small charming and hidden plazza next to Plazza de Catalunia, this simple romanesque church, one of the oldest in Barcelona, was built in the 12th century by the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. It was remodeled in the following centuries. The cloisters and the chapter house date from the 15th century and are clearly Gothic in style. The interior has a very clear reference to the design of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. But what makes this church very special is its involvment with the homeless. Volunteers distribute more than 200 meals a day to people who lost their jobs during the pandemia, and to homeless people. Tables are set in the cloisters to welcome them every day. In front of the church, there is a moving sculpture of Christ as a homeless sleeping on a bench. It is not easy to find, but walking along the Angel Gate pedestrian street, there is a small passage halfway into the church plaza.

I may have been the only person in this museum when I went on a Wednesday morning, but I thought it was an incredible collection and a nice break from the crowds and heat. It’s a massive museum and I could recommend starting with the personal collections on the top floors to see all of the strange and unique items (pipes, strange keys, old board games, etc.). Since there isn’t much signage or written info, I would highly recommend using the audio tour. Well worth a visit if you have an extra hour or two (or more).

You’ll find far fewer tourists than the Cathedral of Barcelona, and a much quieter environment than La Sagrada Familia. This beautiful interior with stunning stained glass was completed in 1453, but the foundation dates to 1319, and the cemetery dates to 1074! Come here if you want to escape the crowds and enjoy a quiet church. It might just be my favorite in all of Barcelona!
