Our second visit to Puerto DL Cruz and we were in two minds whether to visit Loro Parque as we hadn't first time round.. In the end we decided to and loved the experience. Not cheap but when you've been there you can understand why they charge what they do.

This is the best alternative to a beach. Lago Martianez was lovely to relax by salt water pools with multiple poolside bars and cafes. The attended toilet services keep the toilet and changing facilities really clean. The cocktails are great and the food is very reasonably prices and good quality. We would recommend this as a much better alternative to the hotel pool or black rocky beaches.

We loved this tranquil, green space in Puerto De La Cruz. €3 per head is an absolute bargain - you can't buy a coffee for that these days.

Beautiful, peaceful space to marvel at PLANTS (absurd the number of negative reviews that gripe about flowers) from all over the world. The amazing Ficus trees are worth the entry fee alone.

Plenty of other wildlife present too if you are patient and quiet... butterflies (including Monarchs), dragonflies and reptiles have all made their home among the vegetation and pools.

It's easy to lose a couple of hours here.

This is a lovely little beach hidden away at the edge of Porto. Its a bit of a trek to get to and taking a car down can be a bit scary but well worth it. The beach is at the bottom of a cliff with a car park next to a restaurant at the top of the cliff, then a trek down many steps.

The sand is black but fine and soft. The beach has a cafe, toilets a lifeguard and you can rent basic loungers and parasols. Its not particular long at a few hundred meters but doesn't get over crowded.

Probably in-town beast beach, which is reachable from any point of Puerto de la Cruz without using public transport or any cars.

Black sand beach with hint of small rocks.
Not very crowded in the afternoon and beautiful surroundings.
Some parts of the beach are currently under reconstruction.

Beach is well equipped, with fresh water showers and "foot and shoes" showers.

We love visiting this town only a short drive from Puerto de la Cruz. We enjoy visiting the Victoria Gardens which are immaculately kept and taking in the spectacular views from this hilly area. There are many places of interest, traditional buildings with wonderful balconies, many domes, and churches as well as flowers and trees. There are plenty of restaurants but we have a favorite - Cafeteria Venezia where the tapas are delicious and resonably priced.

Square in the centre of town surrounded by bars and restaurants. Includes a kiddies playground. Always busy, especially at night. 100m from the sea. Main taxi rank at 1 end.

Park and gardens with plenty of paths and walkways, plus a cafe open during the day. Nearby also a viewpoint with views over Puerto del la Cruz and the sea.
Popular with walkers/runners and people walking dogs.

Finally managed to get to this little but historic gem, 260(?) Years old and once frequented by the great and the good( Oscar Wildes father and Agatha Christie to name but two) the garden contains Puertos oldest Dragon tree and a myriad of orchids and other tropical plantings all set around five or six areas which open up to you as you walk around

We absolutely love PDLC but confess the Street Art search is the most enjoyable thing we’ve ever done in PDLC! Our teenage girls enjoyed it too (they’re arty so didn’t take much persuading!) we followed a website which includes addresses which made it easy to find the works of art

very nice beach in the city center. No sand, just rocks and concrete...but who cares?, just lay down on your towel. A little harbour, protected from the waves, allow swimming even when the sea is rough. I would say that the only problem is that there are no changing facilities

An attractive Church in the centre of Puerto, with a pleasant little square at the rear.
Unable to look round inside other than s quick peep, as there was a Sunday service taking place.

Though it is a nice small beach but did not find anyone swimming here due to rocks and strong currents. There were some surfers in sea. However it was a nice place to roam around or just sit somewhere and watch the world go by. We did not see any toilet facilities on the beach, but there were a lot of bars and restaurants nearby.
    Worth visiting...

This small harbour area is bordered by some fortifications and tends to be a very busy spot. There are numerous restaurants and bars in the area and the main shopping area is close by. The main tourist office is right beside the harbour.

In common with the rest of Tenerife, the small beach here is black volcanic sand, so it is perhaps not overly-attractive. It also means the water is somewhat darkened and might even appear unclean. However, many people swim in this area, some from the small beach but many others from the quaysides.

This area is in direct sunlight for most of the day, has next to no shade, so watch out for sunburn.

We were surprised to come across this interesting fortress on our walk around Puerto. It is situated right on the sea walls and has has some of the original cannons dating back to 1770.
