We spent some hours here after being on Playa El Beril, this beach has white sand and clear water. It was pretty busy but it was a nice beach!
    + showers available
    + soft ocean waves
    - very few parking spots

"I was at Las Canteras beach on a trip with my mother. It was an amazing beach that also had a beach sports area. The prices were much more reasonable than in other cities in Spain, the weather was nice, and I even managed to get a tan within just two days. I highly recommend visiting this place in early September. The city was very beautiful!!! I really liked it.

It is very close to Santa Cruz. Clear waters, good facilities, many lifeguards although the waters are very calm. Sand like powder!

Papagayo beach is nice but crowded. The bar cafe at the top of the hill is great for a cold beer.
My strong advice is avoid the beach but instead make a point of visiting the beaches to the right of Papagayo - quiet and sandy with easy access to shallow sea.
Its difficult to describe how to get to these but if you go into the car park as far from the cafes as possible you will see a break in the surrounding stones and a path that seems to lead to nowhere. (The cafe's will be a couple of hundred yards to your left) Follow the path for a couple of hundred yards and you come to a really lovely beach. Its a gentle slope down to it so dont take the paths along the edge of the steep drop.
There are some nudists here but you will not feel out of place if you leave your costume on as most peope seem to.
It is quiet and calm and seems very friendly. Its also safe and the sea has a long bach with a gently slope into it. The water was warm and very clear. Lots of little fish so take your goggles.
Also take a cold drink as there is no bar or place to buy anything. The beach extends a long way away from Papgayo. You can walk around the headland to Papagayo itself but then you have those horrible steps back up to the car park.

None of these beaches are wheelchair friendly and if you are unsteady on your feet or have limited mobility then you could make it with assistance if you take your time.
Do not walk down any of the dry water gullies towards the beach. Some look safe but they get steeper and would be a nightmare to climb out of.

The volcanic dirt road to Cofete is very long and somewhat dangerous as it’s very narrow and without any guardrails. Most car rental companies will not insure the car to be driven on the unpaved road to Cofete.

Once you’ve reached the pass, and begin the drive down to the beach, it’s the most spectacular thing your eyes will ever see. The beach is absolutely stunning with the volcanic mountains in the backdrop. The surf is incredibly strong and dangerous to go past waist deep, but nothing beats the golden sand and isolation of this epic beach.

Stunning place to visit while in Gran Canaria, went on the ferry which was lovely. Went to the market and wondered around before having some beautiful seafood looking over the water. Decent prices and just a beautiful place.

Two seniors staying in an H10 Boutique hotel near the front, enjoyed a walk along the lovely promenade, with the norm of bars and tourist shops that one would expect. The port was interesting and it was great to watch the boats and ferries whilst having a cooling drink.
The presumerably 'man made' beaches are lovely and well kept, and I understand that the sun beds for hire are reasonably priced at about 6 Euros a day, although there is adequate room to just please yourself.
You cannot say that Playa Blanca has real history or lovely architecture. It is what it is, and a perfectly acceptable holiday resort with a most wonderful climate.
The hotels facing toward the front are enormous, but possibly fit in with what guests of today require.

Very beautiful location, we saw some fish in the crystal clear water. It was super busy, people laying on their bath towels on the pathways… we left shortly after because it was simply too busy for us

Expect a €12 charge for two beds and an umbrella for the day. Depending on which way you approach the beach there are many shops to purchase water soft drinks and food before you settle down. If you have young children and want to take them into the sea I’d advise you go to either end of the beach as there could be large waves that hit the beach after the Big Ferries ie Armas or Fred Olsen come into berth. We’ve seen many people get swept off their feet and given the washing machine treatment over the years. You’ll get bombarded by lucky lucky men for the usual bags hats watches beach sheets and of course the Mojitos Beer & Coke Cola sellers not forget Massssage !!! My advice is go the Ale Hop shop buy a cool bag and buy your water and food before you go to the beach or buy small water bottles and freeze them if you can and this will keep your drinks and food cool. We always take a cool bag some wooden forks and buy fresh produce on arrival and make salads up so we can nibble when we want.

Has always been a mystery to us so decided to spend some time exploring when we visited the south of the island. Really lovely stretch of beach with many a hotel and apartment block towards the back of the beach. Found a couple of small shopping centres but couldnt locate lots of bars and restaurants. I'm guessing its a more all-inclusive crowd that enjoy the resort. It was nice for a couple of hours with the beach really being the star.

Great beach never crowded and safe swimming. Some naturists at the northern end and you can also find a beach to yourself here.
The new beach bar cafe was a huge dis’s appointment after the excellent torinos that was there before. Our drink’s portions for coffee and wine were tiny.
