This is a mecca for all car fans and particularly those fans of German cars. The history of various marques is followed clearly and the individual people are featured to give the human side to the visit. Towards the end of the museum there is a reference to the town of Zwickau and it's more recent car manufacture. Well worth the visit in my humble opinion. There are all facilities you would want, a restaurant and a shop with fine books and models to remind you of your visit. Excellently laid out and no restrictions on photography!

    G'day

We have walked past this site so many times and it just goes to prove that the practice of walking into doorways and exploring pays off.

The display in the old priests house is amazing and it's difficult to make the leap back from where we are with appliances and living standards now to where these people were.

Ok now this museum links into another by a glass air bridge and it's even more remarkable. In this museum is a much larger more extravagant display of the history of the region. It wasn't until this time did I know that Zwickau had a porcelain industry, coal mining and precious metals industries.

There is also a good display of historical armour and weapons from the region (see photos).

Now within 50m of all of this is the beautiful St Marian's Cathedral and I highly recommend some quality time in here. I don't know what it is but ..... this particular cathedral is very very peaceful.

    Cheers

This is a beautiful old church in Zwickau. It was closed this time we went to it. Not certain if it was the day of the week or construction. When we were there 18 years ago we were able to climb the tower. This is a childhood memory of my parents so it has sentimental value. It is near the pedestrian zone, so if you are in the city you'll want to see it.

This is a small lake with a walkway all the way around . I believe the walk is about 2.2 km. Great for a nature walk. My parents talked about the Schwannenteich from their childhood so it has sentimental value for me.

I visited the museum followed by a concert in the museum. It was an I yereting insight into their lives, but definitely only for classical music and Schumann fans. It would be ok for a short visit with kids but unfortunately there are not many interactive things to do with them there. The concert was fab though - highly recommended.

This park is located just a few steps from the hotel Achat where I stayed two nights and it was nice to walk there after long day at work. It is very well maintained, with plenty of flowers and ancient like statues and fountains. It seems to be very popular among local people. Park is freely accessible 24 hours a day.

Haven't been living here long, but ventured into town and had a couple of hours in the shopping centre. Good range of shops and places to eat/have coffee, ice cream etc. Lots of other stores outside and the tram station is just a five minute walk.
