What travellers are saying
- Dickd1946Charleston, SC1,231 contributionsWalking down the streets behind the church drew us in with it's enrmity. We circled the church and then entered a massive structure and consumed it's relics, archetecture and style. Make sure your eyes taken in all angles. Left to right , up and down, and of course the ceilings too.Written 6 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BigHugh51Adelaide, Australia3,648 contributionsWhilst our cruise ship was docked in the port of Rostock, for the day, we had taken a guided tour to Wismar.
After visiting the old town square, our tour guide led us to this church, to take a look inside.
Some of the war time damage to the church was obvious from the outside. Most of the windows were glazed with plain glass rather than the original stained glass.
When we went inside, we saw that most of the interior was empty. There were some small displays relating to the history of the church and also some church pews.
Our tour guide did not provide us with the opportunity to visit the roof lookout area of the church. Instead, we just had to make do with viewing the vast, mainly empty interior and the splendid architecture of the church’s exterior.
Worthy viewing by any tourist who happens to be spending time in Wismar!Written 1 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SuwatssBangkok, Thailand5,226 contributionsThis old water well used to supply clean water to Wismar is now a major landmark in the main square. - inkwave17Switzerland545 contributionsInteresting (and free!) exhibit next to the tourist office. It covers UNESCO and the process to be recognized as a World Heritage Site as well as a bit of history about Wismar. Worth a stop.Written 31 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- ES.hamburg13 contributionsVisited the museum last year around christmas. Was quite empty and we could try all installations. 6 year old was very happy and it took quite a time to get through. Fair value for money. But to be honest, visiting once is enough.Written 7 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ECWorldHong Kong, China2,649 contributionsSaw picture of this building on the city attraction web site and managed to figure out where it was located (near the harbor). Pretty photogenic and since it was near other sights certainly worth spending a few minutes there.Written 25 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tornado0963Hamburg, Germany2,255 contributionsKARSTADT is one of the biggest German shopping malls (like TESCO) and was founded here, in little sweet Wismar on the 14th of May 1881. What a surprise and showing that economy in Germany was never always driven in the big cities, but also in other places across the country. Today the chain has some 80 stores across the country and is well knon with every German citizen.
The store itself is nothing special, but the building is nicely restored and has this historical touch, which makes it worth visiting. Do not expect too much, but a place, where history took place.Written 16 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Good to spend a few moments there strolling along the shore or try one of the several seafood restaurants. Overall okay but not spectacular.Written 25 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- thirdtimeisacharmPlymouth, MA112 contributionsThis small building is now available to rent as a vacation home. While certainly interesting, it is in a very busy area and is central to both sightseeing and shopping.Written 3 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
