What travellers are saying
- MariaS0rayaGreece360 contributionsWarnemunde beach is one of the most popular beaches on the Baltic Sea coast.
Is huge (more than 10 kilometers long) and wide....dotted with beautiful blue striped "strandkorbe"- a kind of deckchairs.
The water is chilly but safe for swimming. The beach is ideal for water sports like windsurfing and kite boarding due to the strong sea breezes.
Great place to lay out relaxing or watch the sunset....Written 17 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - DexterCheltenham, UK60 contributionsWhat a lovely surprise! A very pretty and extremely popular street lined with cafes, restaurants and shops. It's a five minute walk from the cruise terminal and when you've seen all there is to see there the beautiful beach, the teepott and the lighthouse are close by. Alter Strom is bustling and there's a great atmosphere, it really is a very nice place to visit.Written 28 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Deniz1 contributionIf you are planning a trip to the Ostsee I would definitely recommend visiting Warnemünde and its wonderful beach. No matter what type of person you are, the 3 km long beach has so much to offer for everyone. If you want to take it relaxed and chilled, you can just lay in the sand or rent a beach chair which I would recommend because I think it’s more comfortable. Besides, you can visit the lighthouse which you can reach from a little stony path that leads into the water. It’s kind of the Landmark of Warnemünde. You can even go on the top of it and if the weather is good, you have a really nice view all over the Ostsee which is absolutely fascinating. For more active people the beach offers much place for kite surfing or other water activities as well. However, the experience depends on the weather there. I wouldn’t recommend going there when its windy, it will just ruin your day and giving you a wrong impression of this wonderful beach. Apart from that Warnemünde has a really cute Promenade with nice shops and restaurants. If you want to go out for dinner, I recommend the Neptun hotel that has a really nice Panorama café and sky bar with views all over the beach.Written 19 May 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- MariaS0rayaGreece360 contributionsThe architecture of lighthouses has always fanscinated me.
They are a stark image, tall towers linked with legends across time, are often located in inaccessible coastlines in order to guide safe entries to harbours.
Warnemunde lighthouse operates for more than 100 years, built of white and green bricks and is very close to the town center.
There is a spinal straircase to get to the top for panoramic view of the Baltic Sea.
Worth a visit...Written 19 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - DexterCheltenham, UK60 contributionsWe visited Warnemunde and just went in to get some postcards, unfortunately there were only two members of staff available and we had to wait to pay for about 5 mins as the couple in front of us were requesting detailed travel arrangements.
There was plenty of information available and the building is lovely. Staff appeared very knowledgeable.Written 6 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - William VRedmond, WA12 contributionsWe were taken here while on a cruise excursion. It was interesting and well-maintained. We enjoyed this glimpse of history.Written 3 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- gincar2016Varennes, Quebec329 contributionsNice architecture but nothing really outstanding. Nice design compared to other buildings in Warnemunde. Nice old houses with a lot of decorations and colors. Mostly restaurants, snacks and souvenir shops. I would not go back to visit again.Written 21 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Aussie135London, UK871 contributionsI was on a cruise of the Baltic and Warnemunde turned out to be one of best stops on the trip. This delightfully busy place had a lovely little museum of an old wooden fisherman's house. I was fortunate to visit on a open day and see the house and garden for free.
The little museum was very interesting and informative about how the fisher folk lived, worked and the town's local history. I found out that to stop fire spreading between the wooden houses in olden times the townspeople insisted on a standard fire break between the houses. Apparently that distance was the amount of space needed for a pregnant cow to waddle between the houses without touching them!
I spent an enjoyable time here and would recommend a visitWritten 31 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - David UWhite Rock, Canada593 contributionsThere are very nice sculptures all over the town.
