Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a must when in Berlin. Our walking tour meet point was here. The area is bustling with activity and I’d you engage in a walking tour you will have the full history of Brandenburg Gate which is essential to fully appreciate it.

We visited the site however, we did not have the time to visit inside the memorial. We were told that the names of all the victims of this sickening crime are read on a screen and it takes in excess of 6 years to hear all names that run 24/7 along with a section that belongings to the murdered. The design of the site is thought provoking and the creator of the site left it to each to allow what it means to to them and what it represents. For myself, I found it to be a maze of heightening intensity that engulfed you and you feel that there is no way out. Again, it is meant for each person to be provoked with their own thoughts.

Historical and a bit sad at the same time, especially when you hear the happenings on the east side. Hard to believe some of these things happened so recently

The Pergamon is an excellent museum. I highly recommend booking a time slot; we arrived at 11am and there was quite a substantial queue already. We were able to skip it and got straight in. The exhibitions themselves are excellent; my only criticism is that most of the explanations are not translated to english. Plenty of places to sit for those who need it; the cafe is big and the food is tasty. The gift shop is also well worth a look.

Simply super! Amazing costumes and scenography, incredible dancers and acrobats, unexpectable theater special effects. An experience to live and possibly repeat. Two eyes are not enough.

It was a pretty building, in a central location. I did not visit the inside, but it was the crown of my time enjoying the river at night, eating Currywurst and hanging out with my friends. One of the few worthy architectural sights in Berlin.

    Only 4 out of 5.
Tickes are time slotted which sounds great. No queue to get in on slotted time. Lift all the way to the top.
Fantastic views. Lots of information about the views at each window.

Downside: do not understand the time slots due to there being too many people up there at once, very crowded and was not able to see every view. I thought having a time slot would control the amount of people up there.
Wait time for the lift down was about 25 minutes due to the amount of people.
    Something to be improved on?

Would recommend a visit as views that we did see were brilliant.

I spent at least a couple of hours in this museum and did find it fascinating, although be warned there is a huge amount to read.
The story of Alexander the Great's conquest through Asia was really well presented with excellent maps, including a huge map in the centre of the exhibit.
Moving on, the exhibit on ancient Egypt is huge and would be amazing for a huge Egyptian fan. It's not my favourite period of history but I will say that seeing all these few thousand year old artifacts does remind one of our place in history.
I found the section on prehistory and the middle ages to be my favourite. I am pretty sure this was the museum with a really nice video of how mankind lived throughout the periods of the stone ages through to the iron age. It was excellently done.
The only problem I have with these large museums is the amount of reading and leaving bags in lockers means no access to water unless you visit often pricy cafes. You have to book for museums on Berlin's museum island too so might be tough to do some over two days.
It is a fascinating place to visit though. I'm glad I got into one of Berlin's big museums.

Quiet and free. It was a nice and informative walk through. Sad to think what people had to go through and how often they were denied travel

This is a fun museum with loads of information and great interaction. I would agree it can be packed with school kids so if I went again I would go later in the day to avoid the kids. There was so much to see that you had to keep track of which bits you had done. Spent around an hour there. Worth a visit and can get a discount with the Berlin welcome card.

There is a lot of history in Berlin and plenty of museums to visit.

We spent a happy 3 hours at the exhibition called basically “but what if…” It covered all of the major events that you would expect - world wars, Berlin war and back in time to 1850 - but didn’t just present the facts, it also made you think about what might have been. It was fascinating, thought provoking and well presented.

The final room had an interactive role-playing game set up on an iPad. You pick the person you want to play and work through different scenarios relating to the fall of the Berlin wall.

I strongly recommend this exhibition. It was interesting, educational and excellent value!

Lovely museum that is a similar experience to London's Natural History Museum but smaller.
The models, that are many, are fantastic and the museum also shows an aspect of what is done on the background with regard to cataloguing the world's species. You can see the scanners they use to take 3D images of insects and pass through a room stocked floor to wall with thousands of species of fish in jars. When you consider that these are just the marine species it makes you realise just how many species are on this planet!

The dinosaurs will be the big draw for visitors but it's not the only display that is excellently done. I thought the interactive displays for the dinosaurs were fantastic. Kids will love the little eyeglass style things that you point at dinosaurs to see a video of them.

This is my favourite sort of museum and it is easily as good as the much bigger and probably better known London Natural History museum.
