Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have to admit when first told about this "shopping" center, my reply was "I can shop at home. I want to see history!" Boy was I dumb, lol. This center opened in 1907! Went through 2 world wars and is still going strong now. Eight floors (60K sq. meters) of both high end and middle of the road items. Top two floors is international food shopping with areas to eat anything you want, from seafood to steaks, caviar to potato pancakes and gehacktes. Ground floor has all of your high end stores: Hermes, Rolex, Prada, Gucci, Chanel, Burberry, etc. One entire floor of shoes, one floor for kids, one floor for stationery, household appliances. Now, I've been to NYC and Toronto (Eaton Centre, etc.) and grew up in Cincinnati and have NEVER experienced anything like this! It was mind boggling. Got my Hermes scarf there and it was less than it would have been in Paris, where we originally hoped to get one. Every time we are in Berlin, I have to go here. There is a cafeteria on top floor that is always crowded and the huge windows offer some great views of the city. You could spend a whole day here, if you really wanted to "shop". Definitely take the time to eat here.

A tour of an abandoned airport. Just amazing and well off the beaten track. The experience is unique and vast with lots of hidden surprises. This is recent history at its best, closing in 2008. A great tour to start or finish your search of German history. Interesting to see the abandoned check in hall, apron, baggage system and the pre/post war uses by the numerous residents. Very reasonably priced for this 2 hour tour, a very knowledgable guide. Wrap up warm in the winter, some of it goes outside. Easily accessed from the U Bahn.

Tempelhof Airport is full of history and since its closure the idea of turning it in to a park for me was an inspired one. It was very cool to walk the runway and see the imposing terminal building. Situated out of the city centre but 100% worth it and served by metro stations.

Amazing museum. I visited 4 times with the same exhibition (Martha Cooper) and still enjoyed! Its free, its a good size and staff is nice. I will definitely come back next time im in Berlin and i can heavily recommend both trips with family or alone.

Nice, residential and gentrified area of Berlin, offering many sights off the beaten path. Refreshing, nice parks, lots of options to kick back and have a chill, a bite to eat and drink.

Pretty town square where locals like to hang on the benches around the fountain as well as on the grassy lawns. In summer a cooling spot. Place is surrounded by eateries and stately architecture. A UBahn station exits right on the square. Nice chilling spot.

The visit was a recommendation of a berliner local friend and I was very happy to find this hidden place in Berlin. It is pure nature and very non-obvious touristic place to vist. Its is easily acessible with the metro (U-Bahn) and I recommend a vist of 2 hours there.

Toward the end of a month in Berlin, I made a Sunday visit to Marlene Dietrich’s grave, set in a quiet churchyard in the middle-class West Berlin neighborhood of Friedenau. Locating the cemetery was a bit of a challenge. I took the wrong street out of the S-bahn station, then backtracked to the right street but overshot by a kilometer, so I got in plenty of exercise (and also got to see a Canadian ice cream and coffee shop called More than Moose). Multi-hued graffiti splashed the wall on either side of the cemetery gate, but inside all was leafy serenity. Posted on the wall to the right of the entrance were a map of the grounds and a list of the notables buried there, making it easy to find the actress’s grave (Section 34, Plot 363). Unlike Eva Perón’s mausoleum in Buenos Aires, Marlene' Dietrich's was modest and free of tourists. A handsome but simple gray granite marker bore her first name, her dates of birth and death (1901-1992) and a short inscription in German. As near as I could translate, it said “This stone marks the measure of my days.” The only other person around was a somewhat Goth-looking young woman pouring water into vases of flowers. In other sections of the cemetery, people tended graves of their family members, removing and replacing wilted flowers. Wooden park benches provided places for rest and contemplation. Birds sang. A red squirrel climbed a maple tree. Roses scented the air. In addition to being the final resting place of a celebrated artist, the Friedenau cemetery made a soothing temporary resting place for the living, an aesthetic and spiritual oasis in the busy city.

Great place to visit, very easy to get to on the bus.
Being a massive JFK fan, this was an important place for me to go.
Very little about him, apart from a plaque outside.
I tried to stand on the balcony where he stood but the staff were having none of it.

There are lots of affordable items in the store, some are for souvenirs for tourists like me. It is big and few floors up so you must a lot more time if you are planning a big shopping. Maybe its just me, but I find the store a little confusing when finding items, mixed up in all floors. I think there is a better way of sectioning the items in the store. But overall, it is a good store for tourists and locals.

The resting place of the Brothers Grimm and Max Bruch, among others. A tranquil spot to wander around, with a little cafe at the entrance. Many interesting gravestones and plots.

I enjoyed worshiping with fellow believers in an impressive location. The acoustics are phenomenal and made their great choir sound even better. A friendly, multicultural congregation.

This destination is not a must. But when you live nearby you can make a stop to take a walk around the habour. The habour offers several dining places.
