What travellers are saying
- Murat KPisarovina, Croatia5 contributionsAlways full. Nice when you want to have a walk outside and run away from the noisiness of the city. Like.Written 17 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Kaloyan FachikovSofia, Bulgaria11 contributionsIncredible zoo. Not too big so you can walk around and even stay and just "glance" at the animals you like, without spending your whole day there. In addition, the way everything is constructed, the fences, the alleys, bring up the nature undoubtedly close to you. At moments you just feel as actually being surrounded by that certain biome you are currently "at".
Enjoyed the animals there. The monkeys were so "childish" and energetic, they were running all around during the whole time.
The environment set up for children is just incredible... So much stuff is provided for them not to get bored and enjoy the day to the fullest.
Unfortunately, now, probably because of the COVID19 virus, most (if not all) of the shows are canceled. Still, it's a great experience you should definitely consider if you happen to be in Munich.Written 30 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - The_Fat_FrankfurterFrankfurt, Germany185 contributionsDespite the fact that there is no Wies'nin 2020 we went there to have a overviewing look from the Bavaria statue.Written 11 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Luca MVilnius, Lithuania108 contributionsThere are many reasons to visit the Botanical Garden Munich, and one of them is that it's one of Europe’s most important botanical gardens. If you are a nature lover or need some time out in a beautiful environment with plants - this place will not disappoint!Written 28 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- NICHOLAS TDubai, United Arab Emirates5,159 contributionsThis is a very well kept park in central Munich, a short walk from the English Garden.
It is free to enter and a nice place to spend a relaxed bit of time.Written 1 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - TravelBee1986Haar, Germany248 contributionsWe enjoyed Sea Life. It is expensive for spending only 1.5 hours there, but the kids loved it. It's a little difficult with all the restrictions at the moment, but there were employees making sure there's space between people.Written 12 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Valentino333888Paris, France74 contributionsWhat a great place to sit under the sun au natural! I went with my girlfriend. The river is freezing cold but on a hot day its so refreshing I can't even explain it! Very safe and cool place...good place to try the FKK culture for a first time...Written 11 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Ken TGlen Oaks, NY526 contributionsThis park is full of things to see and do. It is not that crowded and you have a beautiful fountain, paths to old buildings, restaurant with a beer garden, and benches to relax and enjoy the scenery.Written 6 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- richc80114 contributionsWas staying nearby...we visited the park on our first day - very nice. It also has a restaurant and beer garden!Written 28 September 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Harry RRamat Hasharon, Israel366 contributionsGreen and peaceful, this is a quiet, beautiful park with a hill to climb at its northern end that was built over the refuse from the war.Written 8 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- MytravadvBrisbane, Australia399 contributionsWhat a lovely small park...so green with fresh new leaves on all the trees.
Its right next to the river but not as busy as the English Gardens.
Go under the German Museum and over the second small waterway, then turn left and keep the river on your left. You can return to the city over one of the many bridges whenever you want.
We chose to keep walking up the river till we got close to the Chinese Pagoda in the English Garden across the river.
Great circle walk if you like parks and fresh air. It's probably abt 8-9km as a round trip but on level ground so not difficult.
Some pretty views along the way and a few interesting locks.
Well worth a walk if you have time.
Was very surprised that it rated pretty low on tripadvisor but guess because it's slightly away from the busy centre.Written 2 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Florian HMunich, Germany59 contributionsIf you find the entrance to this small courtyard you enter a relaxing and silent place in Munich. It has been initially built in the mid 19th century, redesigned last in 2003. There are small springs and much places to sit down.Written 19 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- BradJillHong Kong, China146,744 contributionsMaximilianplatz is a narrow stretch of green space between Lehnbachplatz to the southwest and Platz Der Opfer Des Natzionzlsozialismus (Place of the victims of National Socialism) to the northeast.
Here you find a rural setting, basically a mini version of the English Gardens in the heart of the Old City. This public square is lined with mature trees on both sides, includes walking paths and grassy areas. You'll also find a handful of interesting statue monuments scattered throughout Maximilianplatz.
It is a nice opportunity to escape the streets of Munich, grab a park bench and rest your feet a bit if you find yourself in the area and in the need. Otherwise, for a more expansive city park experience, better to pan a visit to the English Gardens instead.Written 18 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
