Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

this is a. very extensive palace and a must see if you are in Munich for anything other than Octoberfest. Some is restored following the war but the majority is original and very elaborate. There are several routes around, depending on how far you want to walk but I spent time to see the whole thing which I thought was worthwhile.

The design of building is reason enough to visit but the collection of jet engines, motorcycles and cars is staggering. Each room has it's own theme and they do a great job explaining engineering as well as showing the future of car design as well as environmentalism.

we really enjoyed seeing the old masterpieces in the galleries. We recommend that you call ahead to make sure that they are open. The first two times that we walked over, although during regularly scheduled open hours, they were in fact, not open. We weren't able to get an explanation.

This is free to the public and a great way to see the magic of BMW as well as where they are going. It's very interactive and kid friendly. There's also a nice cafe for lunch or a snack.

I revisited recently, after not being there since 1976 when I was living in Munich as a teenager. We went to the musical instrument collection, which had been my favorite part of the museum. It's been completely modernized and had some demonstrations while we were there. still wonderful, even if completely different and unrecognizable.

This gallery is dedicated to the artists of the Blue Rider movement, founded by Kandinsky and Marc. If you are more into traditional art, this is not the place for you. The gallery is not huge, but has excellent displays. There is also an excellent cafe on site, where you can relax with a cup of coffee and a cake of have a delicious lunch.

We spent a couple of hours here but there was so much excellent information, we could have spent much longer. This museum is really well put together and the building itself is lovely and modern. The bathroom was a but difficult to find, but considering entry is free you certainly can't complain.

Cool showroom with all the fancy BMW and Rolls cars they show off! That being said, it's sad BMW has never taken responsibility for how they treated the workers they utilized from Dachau. Shameful!

The "Staatliches Museum Ägyptischer Kunst" (State Museum of Egyptian Art) displays exhibits from predynastic and dynastic periods, with statues, sculptures, cult articles, papyri, stone tablets with hieroglyphics, glasswares, jewellery, amulets, mummies, textiles and household goods.
There is also with a small associated section with objects from the areas of Assyrian and Babylonian culture.

The museum is extremely well organized, with a clearly marked path on the floor.
Entrance on Sundays costs only 1.00 Euro.

You cannot miss this museum when in Munich. It is full of great artworks, inviting you to stay there and contemplate and let them talk to you. They offer reduced tickets on Sundays but I would not recommend a visit on Sundays because there are a lot of people and you cannot fully enjoy the experience. The space around is also nice.

Really an awesome place to bring kids. Just do the stadium tour on your own but visit the museum. They have a kids play area, lego area. Also, its rich in its football history with a great coverage. Very informative and well presented. If you are in Munich, do make a trip down. Its near Frottmaning Station.

The Beckmann exhibition was excellent and I’m grateful to have seen ‘Departure’ in Europe. I was really moved by this and the exhibition as a whole.

The gallery rooms are also well curated for the general lay visitor.

But…I can’t get over and couldn’t get over the absolute obsession of the gallery to force visitors to put handbags into the bulging, rammed, stressful cloakroom.

Backpacks, suitcases, shopping bags yes - small handbags??

I have a small 20cmx15cm handbag that had to be checked in (after I had checked in everything else - going back into the madness downstairs). If I was pregnant or 15kg heavier this would just be part if my body?!

I immediately was grateful my diabetic daughter wasn’t with me as she has to have medical treatment with her at all times.

I felt worried I’d left my migraine medication behind suddenly remembering that certain lighting can trigger them.

I saw a guard approach a woman with a tiny crossbody bag - 10cm x 20cm and pretty flat to check it in.

Later a woman turned up with a violin and I witness the discussion about how she must ‘check it in’. Knowing how she would never do that I guess she didn’t get to see the exhibition.

I went to the shop to buy a few things that turned out less expensive than I thought. They wanted cash but sadly that was in my handbag in the cloakroom.

I loved the exhibition but hated the hunting down of personal bags. Why can’t men and women carry small cross body personal bags into a gallery?

I visited here alone on a weekday and had a great time. I recently moved here, and my German isn't great yet, and was surprised that the museums staff didn't speak more English - it was a bit of a struggle to get my ticket. This said, the museum was excellent. It is almost entirely sculpture, but of the highest quality, and most ancient variety. Very well displayed, and interpreted, I got some really good photographs. I would thoroughly recommend

Attended the museum. Lots of walking, extremely clean…but disappointed that some of the displays were not open.

Went on Sunday, when it's only 1€ plus 2€ for an audio guide which was helpful but not strictly necessary. Normal entrance is 7€, and they don't accept non German debit/credit cards for payment. Had free cloakroom for bags and coats.

The basement had an amazing collection of nativity scenes, well worth the entrance fee alone. The other 2 floors were good, around 90-95% of the information was in English as well as German (there were 2-3 small rooms in one wing of both floors that had no translated content, and audio guide didn't have any information either)

At the regular price, this would be a 5 star museum, but at 1€, it was ridiculously good value. Stayed 2 hours, but could have stayed longer
