Everything is indicated and a lot of connections are available for everywhere.

- lonewolf44Kingston upon Thames, UK1,254 contributionsThe British historian AJP Taylor once famously claimed 'the German Resistance is a myth'. The White Rose Movement proves him wrong. Siblings Hans and Sophie Scholl (see the amazing film about her) and 3 friends distributed 4 leaflets to their fellow students at Munich University before they were caught. Famously Sophie threw the leaflets in to the air when she realised she was about to be arrested. There is an excellent, informative museum just behind the bust of Sophie Scholl: go through the lobby and you'll see the grand staircase where Sophie threw the leaflets. In front of the university building you can see leaflets in the pavement as a further commemoration of their heroism - all 5 were found guilty of treason and executed. It's easy to get there. Take the ubahn (U6) to Universitat and turn left out of the exit. The main university building with the monument and museum can't be missed. I went with my girlfriend. The river is freezing cold but on a hot day its so refreshing I can't even explain it! After the Second World War the arc was transformed into a symbol of peace.
On top of the arch is an allegorical image that personifies the state of Bavaria.
