Be sure to arrive in time to see the animation. Wait for the entire event to play. Amazing to see the jousting and the dancing.

So fun to watch these brave souls in whatever weather! It is magical and mesmerizing! Well worth a stop on your way for a stroll in the English Garden.

The olympic tower is worth the visit. You get great views of the surrounding area and they have labels to help you know what you are looking at in the distance. It's a great way to get oriented with the surrounding scenery while appreciating the olympic venue.

It is really special to watch the Glockenspiel do it's thing. It is also a great experience to hear all of the church bells in town ring out. This is well worth the time if you are nearby,

Great place to be! Bit pricy for the quality of the food, but its just fine considering the location. I recommend you a so called opazda as well a wurstsalat. Of course with some beers on the side. Cheers

Very busy station with connections everywhere.
Everything is indicated and a lot of connections are available for everywhere.
My down point would concern the basement where directions' indications are quite poor, leading to some trouble to find the right S-Bahn or U-bahn

This is a very pleasant square that is just down from the Residence, make sure you go in the church and the gardens through the gate.

Clear parallels with Rome in this section of Munich, and a lovely and impressive place to wander....enjoyable even in the rain.

The British historian AJP Taylor once famously claimed 'the German Resistance is a myth'. The White Rose Movement proves him wrong. Siblings Hans and Sophie Scholl (see the amazing film about her) and 3 friends distributed 4 leaflets to their fellow students at Munich University before they were caught. Famously Sophie threw the leaflets in to the air when she realised she was about to be arrested. There is an excellent, informative museum just behind the bust of Sophie Scholl: go through the lobby and you'll see the grand staircase where Sophie threw the leaflets. In front of the university building you can see leaflets in the pavement as a further commemoration of their heroism - all 5 were found guilty of treason and executed. It's easy to get there. Take the ubahn (U6) to Universitat and turn left out of the exit. The main university building with the monument and museum can't be missed. Just go in through the main entrance.

My favourite memory of MaximillianStr is a €300,000 Rolls-Royce Wraith with an a;most-permanent €15 parking penalty notice on its windshield. Simply impossible to find a park otherwise.

Like Paris has its Arc de Triomphe, the Siegestor was founded in Munich in the 19th century as a triumphal arch in honor of the Bavarian army; although the design was based on the Arch of Constantine in Rome.
After the Second World War the arc was transformed into a symbol of peace.
On top of the arch is an allegorical image that personifies the state of Bavaria.
If you don't have much time in Munich, you can already see the monument from the Odeonsplatz.
