- Dave V5 contributionsIn late March, there was still ample snow, yet we enjoyed mild temperatures. The Gondola ride was pleasant and offered a birds-eye view up the rock face. I found the lift ticket pricing reasonable. The sights from the platforms offered great photo opportunities of the Alps…Germany and Austria.
We were treated to ice climbers that launched from the platform to the Zugspitze summit and ultimate descent.
The restaurants on top offered good variety. Had I different footwear I would have rented a sled to enjoy on the mountain.
The area offered many lifts that numerous skiers utilized. Be wise and bring sunscreen.
The walking trails along the Lake Eibsee below was gentle and pleasurable.

Had an incredibly delightful lunch, enjoyed the relaxation, the guests, the servers, everything! The walk is a ways, and I was walking with an injured knee. If you are disabled at all, this is a tough one. But worth it! The water cascading down all around, the tunnels, the rushing river, all of it is beautiful! Tried to take the tram from top back down, but the lower tram was being very problematic, so I walked down, too! Beautiful walk, hike. Great food at the stop above. - Sanjo RSouth Africa32 contributionsWe did this hike in the pouring rain which meant that there was no view but it was still worth it. We were short on time and really wanted to an alpine hike. It is a steep climb but beautiful scenery, even got to see an Alpine Salamander. The only big downside was the unfriendly hosts at the beer garden. They wouldn't allow us to sit under cover on their veranda and eat our own picnic. Their veranda is the only under cover spot at the top so was frustrating in the rain. It only takes 20 through 30 minutes to walk around the lake and if you are brave, you can go swimming in it.
