They found very good use of a railway station. The interior is outstanding, and houses many types of art. I wish I had more time to go through it, but was certainly impressed by what I saw.
Tip: If you interested in l'Orangerie (Monet museum) just across the Seine, buy the combined ticket here. We learned of that only after we purchased, agent said don't worry they will honor a lower price, but l'Or didn't.

My husband and I took the time to walk to Notre Dame after our tour at Saint Chapel. It was very interesting to see the story boards and explanations of the restoration. We were glad we went to see it even if we couldn’t enter the church. If I ever get the chance I will go inside to see the religious relics.
I would love to have seen the inside.

The stained glass is exquisite. Worth the price of admission. Be sure to buy your ticket online before you go. The combined ticket with the conciergerie is a good deal. Buy tickets directly on their site and not on viator.

I’ve visited again, this time with different friends. Very impressive place. This was the first time i was on the balcony facing the boulevards and the Cafe de la Paix.

Fascinating experience - a must if you're from abroad! I didn't manage to book online but despite this the queues weren't too tedious - although they looked pretty bad at the time they moved fast. We went up via the steps to the second floor then the lift to the summit so it really does give you the best of both worlds and you see a bit more and can take your time.

I'm not the biggest art fan, but I did want to see the Monet Water Lilies. This has its own floor. The next floor has an exhibit relating to an art dealer in Paris from 100 years ago who had plenty of well known artists at the time. At the Museum D'Orsay they will tell you if you buy their ticket you will get a discount at l'Orangerie but this was not honored. Be sure you get the combined ticket at D'Orsay.

The Arc de Triomphe is the the most monumental of a number of triumphal arches in Paris. It was built between 1806 and 1836 on the orders of Napoleon to honour the victories of his Grande Armée. It was inaugurated by French King Louis Philippe, and dedicated to the armies of the Revolution and the Empire. Even though there were many modifications from the original plans (reflecting political changes and power struggles), the Arc de Triomphe still retains the essence of the original concept which was a powerful, unified symbol for France. It is still the place for many national events.

It’s a much visited attraction. It stands in the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle at the western end of the Champs Elysses. Access to the Arc de Triomphe is via un underground passage, with the entrance fee of €13 paid before you are allowed onto the island on which the Arc de Triomphe sits. On the late August afternoon we visited, traffic circulating around the Arc was surprisingly (and unusually) negligible so it was easy to cross the road onto the island and to see the Arc close up. The monument bears the names of battles and generals from the Revolution and the First Empire. Every evening, the flame is relit at 6.30pm on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier from the Great War.

It’s certainly worth paying the entrance fee and climbing the spiral stairs to the viewing platform at the top of the Arc. The views in all directions are wonderful. You’ll get a great view of a number of Paris’s famous landmarks: the Champs Elysses, the Eiffel Tower, the Grande Arc de la Defence, Sacre Coeur on Montmartre, and the ‘star’ layout of the twelve radiating avenues that gave Place Charles de Gaulle its former name, Place de l'Étoile (star).

We timed our visit carefully, as we wanted to be on the top of the Arc de Triomphe at sunset on a clear evening. There was quite a queue for access to the top, as many visitors had the same idea, but we’d taken that into account after checking the sunset time, and to make sure we could get a decent viewing and photography spot. The views across the city in the soft light of the setting sun were beautiful. But the triumph was the sun setting directly through the Grande Arche de la Defense. It was breathtakingly beautiful. We stayed on the viewing platform as darkness progressed, to see the Eiffel Tower light up, and then commence its nightly ‘sparkle’ show at 10.pm. We stayed on the Arc until security started moving the crowds down around 10.30pm.

It’s one thing to visit this historic monument. It’s another thing to climb the monument to its viewing platform at the top. And its the ultimate to make the visit particularly memorable, as our visit at sunset allowed.

I am surprised with those leaving some negative reviews on this place… If you are in Paris and you miss this museum you wasted your trip.

Walk along it, take a sit on the edge, get crepe and wine and take in Paris.

Weekends are super fun, with bars buzzing and music playing. If you do only few things in Paris, make hanging out by Seine one of them

This church must be pushing 100 metres! And I must be pushing the rules… My sincerest apologies for vlogging aloud during chapel prayer… in retrospect, it may have not been the best time to display my new found talent for ‘flossing’, but you’ve got to connect with the kids somehow, ey?

I experienced a myriad of emotions on this particular outing, due in part to my feelings of bewilderment and then utter delight at the ‘accordion player et cat’ performance just outside Jesus’ doors! The little feline interrupted the music with its mewing a little too much for my liking but a cat’s a cat! And I know where it sat… right outside the Sacre Couer on the best day of my life.

Not as good as the Sexodrome but ruddy beautiful, that’s for sure.

The garden was excellent, especially on a bright sunny day. Inside was a bit small and got very hot in some rooms, but the displays of his work was wonderful.

Our hotel was on a beautiful little street in La Marais and I could have stayed there forever. Loved all the boutiques and cafes. Such a lovely neighbourhood.

The Pantheon is worth the visit just to behold today's version of the 1851 Léon Foucault demonstration of diurnal motion by a pendulum swinging 67 metres from a pivot point in the dome.
