What travellers are saying
- Dreamer085810433222 contributionsIt was a real intense experience, our guide Jason was a passionate and yet funny person. We learned so much and we cannot help feeling deep compassion for these people's hardships and desparation. The Famine was traumatic and Jason really brought it to life. Was very impressive, thank you so much for your good work!Written 14 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lynda M1 contributionMy mother, (born in Ballymena, N. Ireland loved President Kennedy. I remember watching him on the news, getting out of a helicopter in the field behind the family farm, and running up to the courtyard to have tea with his cousin Mary. When we arrived at the Homestead, (August, 2010), we found ourselves with the most lovely lady who invited us to have a look around. I told her that my mother and I watched President Kennedy land in the field behind the house to have tea with his cousin Mary in the Courtyard, and how excited my mother would be to know that I was there!
She then asked me if my friend and I would like to have tea in the courtyard. I have to say, that this trip was a very emotional one for me as this was my first trip to Ireland since we immigrated to Canada in 1957. They lady came to our table with a tray of tea, served in china teacups, along with a plate of biscuits. This was a highlight of my trip! The JFK Memorial Park is not far from there.Written 14 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vance O10 contributionsThe panel were outstandingly beautiful and showed the extraordinary craftsmanship of local talented "stitchers". - zimmys57Delavan, WI742 contributionsThis attraction in New Ross is very informative about the extremly difficult period of time in Ireland surrounding the potato famine. It is well worth making a point to go through the visitor center and then proceed to do the Dunbrody Famine Ship tour and afterwards travel out to see the Keenedy Homestead. You can easily do all three things in a four hours.Written 2 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mariagoldbySurrey, UK1 contributionI have just finished the two day basket weaving course with Irene .
It was a wonderful two days . Irene is very skilled and knowledgeable and patiently went through each stage with us .
We had great fun and we learnt a lot and all created and made a unique special basket .
The gardens of the house are gorgeous and creative and very interesting to spend time in. It’s like an oasis of colour and charm
Irene also provided a tasty home made delicious lunch and cake on both days , all I can say about her cooking is yum !!
This was one of the best things I have ever done and I highly recommend the course or a visit to the gardens .Written 10 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - bill sLondon, UK124 contributionsThe New Ross visitor information office on Mary Street should be your first port of call when you arrive in the town Under difficult circumstances with covid restrictions in place, the staff were helpful and friendly. I needed to print off a flight boarding pass and they kindly helped. New Ross is a town with alot of history and well worth a visit and the visitor centre will help you get the best from your stay.Written 16 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
