Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a wonderful not to miss castle in Ireland. It is great for families with children as well. If you love history this is your spot!

I led a group here in May. It was amazing. Brian gave us a great tour of the sites - filled with archaeological, local knowledge, and folklore A real treat. Would highly recommend.

Historical cathedrals have often been quoted as being over or almost a thousand years old, and so they are if one were to start from where the original was built, but subsequently rebuilt or modified. Here we have a cathedral over a thousand years of age, which existed long before any other building still standing in Limerick, and still in its original glory. This makes its architecture even all the more stunning and admirable.
Within, there are also excellent pieces of furnishings which date back hundreds of years, all of which are very clearly described for the visitor.
An absolute must visit, whether staying in Limerick or just passing through. This place has an exceptional existent history.

Walked through campus in the early evening and thoroughly enjoyed the green paths, the Living Bridge, the many sculptures, and the mix of architecture.

We have been visiting Tera for the last 4/5 years and every time we visit, we adore every second.
This visit- we were 3 adults and 3 children (8,5&3) and there was something for everyone.

Entry is €8/adult and €6/child with access to free tea, coffee and biscuits. You will not find better value anywhere

There are lovey fairy statues and doors everywhere with a story that follows the adventures of Delvin.

At the end, there is a lovely hobbit house with an amazing value shop. (There were fairy doors there for at least half the price of some other shops)

We hope to visit again before the end of the summer and tell all our friends about the amazing gem.

We arrived on a Thursday evening for a brewery tour hosted by Steve. He was incredibly informative, not only possessing extensive knowledge about the brewery itself but also about the historical significance of the area, the ingredients used, and the overall effort involved in crafting some of their excellent drinks. We highly recommend this experience for a work night out, a group gathering, or even if you just want to enjoy a casual pint.

This park is a nice place to relax, have a leisurely stroll and enjoy the trees, flowers and gardens. There are nice flowers blooming throughout the warm months. All paved paths for walking the doggos or kiddos. A playground has been rebuilt in 2024, it looks nice. There is an art museum on one of the corners which is free to enter and has coffee and treats and bathrooms.

    Ballyhoura Walk : July 2021
We are a group of 10 walkers ranging in ages from 28 to 68 and with varying degrees of fitness. Our aim was to walk from Liscarroll to Tipperary town on the Ballyhoura walking trail in three and half days. The walk is mostly well marked, challenging in parts but well worth the trip. We stayed in the Park Hotel in Charleville which I would highly recommend for their accommodation, food and friendliness.
    Thursday afternoon: Liscarroll to Shinagh
This was a walk along quiet rural roads past the Donkey Sanctuary and through the quiet village of Churchtown. There is a grocery shop here, in a somewhat hidden location, where you can get coffee, ice-cream etc. As you leave Churchtown, you walk on a busy road for about 3km before reaching quiet roads again. The walk was 12km long and took 3hours approx for all to complete.
    Friday; Shinagh to Ballyorgan
We left Shinagh, crossed the railway line and joined the main Cork road. We walked for about 500 metres towards Charleville along the side of the main road before taking a right turn onto a rural road. We walked uphill along the road until we reached a sign pointing to the right. This boreen was overgrown and impassable, so we continued along the road, taking the next right, all the time climbing. We re-joined the signposted way some time later at a left turn when we went off road and walked along forest roads. Take care not to miss a right turn with a barrier across it. We followed the signs, all the time climbing until we reached a sign pointing to the right up a steep stone path to Carrow Mountain. The views from up there were worth the effort. The path down was tough underfoot along scree initially and across heather covered ground where the path is not always obvious. We re-joined the forest roads near Philip’s castle and walked downhill to the Bike Trail Shop. A number of the walkers stopped here, the rest continued on to Glenosheen and from there to Ballyorgan. The walk was about 32km long and took about 8 hours. It was a most enjoyable hike but I wouldn’t recommend doing this walk on a wet day. Remember to bring food and water.
    Saturday : Ballyorgan to Galbally
We left Ballyorgan and walked along the road for 2km before turning right and walking up hill along the edge of the forest all the time following the signs. We exited on to a rural road through farmland and into another forest where there we got great views of the surrounding landscape as we walked. There was a steep descent on to a busy road before arriving in Kilfinane where we got lunch. Leaving Kilfinane, we followed the road uphill for 1.5km before turning left onto a horse path, then a cut away forest and then along the edge of a forest. We descended into Ballylanders along rural roads and from Ballylanders to Galbally along a quiet road. The walk was 28km long approx. and took us 7 hours.
    Sunday: Galbally to Tipperary
The rain poured down and unfortunately we had to abandon the walk but will return to complete it at a future date.
Summary: This is a great hike across varying terrain and with some outstanding views. A certain level of fitness is required but slow and steady will get you there.

This is a really nice family camping park. Pitches are spacious and nice and flat. Lots of lovely walks in area and coffee shop on site was a big plus.

I chose Dolan's for a special birthday, my 55th year of life on this planet! We were 8 friends, all adults (luckily for them, all younger than me), so we wanted just to relax and have a good chat. The house got us nice finger food, and the staff was very nice and available. Because there was room for some whiskey, too, one staff was so nice to move a bottle just for us from the main bar to our area upstairs (small thing, but that's called customer service!). Much appreciated, what were supposed to be 2 shots eventually became 3! I was able to easily arrange to pay for the first drink round without letting any friend to volunteer for that (another detail that matters on such an occasion). Nice place, nice staff, nice food (and nice music around, of course, it's Dolan's!!) Leaving a tip to the Dolan's crew was definitely a pleasure, to me.
