Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The castle was on our list of things to visit during our overnight trip to Kilkenny.

It is possible to spend a few hours here exploring, while taking in all of the information, authentic furniture and artwork.

There is a lovely tea room on site also and wonderful views.

We cannot mention how amazing Kilkenny castle is without highlighting how impressed we were with OPW guide John Kelly.
It was such a lovely experience to meet John today.

We found that he is knowledgeable on all aspects of history, not just this site, and happy to meet people and provide them with information to help them learn about the castle and enjoy their visit.

We really appreciated meeting such a friendly guide who is committed to providing an amazing experience for visitors and keeping the stories and lives of the people who lived in the castle known to those who enter.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have time for the full brewery tour. So we stopped by the pub/tasting room and had a flight of beer. I had two different bartenders assist us and they were both friendly, knowledgeable, and very informative.

I was not expecting to be able to climb up to the top of a Viking Round Tower on my Ireland trip. Kilkenny itself is amazing and this was a great and historic experience. I would recommend this to anyone with a fascination of history like myself. The cathedral itself is also well worth the visit.

The tour guide was amazing, and filled us in in the history of Kilkenny in a very interesting and exiting way. The tour lasted about an hour, and gave us enough info to then visit the Kilkenny castle and the cathedrals, with a more complete knowledge of the history, and enabled us to enjoy it more. Therefore, I recommend you visit it, and at an early point in your visit too, before any other activities!

We visited in the fall. The entrance fee is very reasonable. There is a little exhibit and washrooms in the reception. The ruins are pretty and there are information panels and displays in part of the ruins. It's likely to take you under an hour to do the whole thing.

Mauve was absolutely wonderful to share her property and history with us. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and exploring the grounds. I recommend this tour for anyone traveling through the area.

Morgan was an incredible host. They were closed and opened for a private tour. He went above and beyond for an exemplary experience. Their locally made spirits are great and we purchased multiple bottles! Would definitely make this a priority visit!

We only went to The lady Helen restaurant.Sadly we were not staying there, From the second we entered, everyone was so pleasant, courteous and professional and friendly at the same time. We had the tasting menu.Although we’ve had many tasting experiences in a selection of Michelin star restaurants,in our opinion, this was certainly the best. It was a pleasant surprise to see the head chef,John Kelly, serving the most delicious veal,he spoke to every table. ,we were very impressed with him and he was so unpretentious and humble. There isn’t one single thing I could criticise, The staff really did make our night.Thank you to every single person.

We visited Santa @ Jurassic new park
Our little 3 yo boy was in awe at all the dinosaurs, there is a great trail & also a train ride too
After that, we qued for about 45 mins to see Santa, that was disappointing but it was worth it when we got to see Santa
Had to pay an extra €12 for a picture with Santa
Great activities , santas workshop , the elves helped with reindeer food, gingerbread men & build a bear!
We booked in to bounce for a little while & then it began to rain so we left
Great day, wads lucky with the weather

My brother & myself visited today (May 11) & it was a delightful experience enhanced by the member of staff who went way over & above to show us around & give us the history of the estate. Pity it isn't publicised more - we only discovered it by accident. It is really worth a visit.

Was in Kilkenny for the day and went for a walk here and I really enjoyed it, being beside the river noire. It's very peaceful and relaxing and I enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Kilkenny city.

10 days before our visit, Malzards was ranked #1 Irish Pub of the Year by Drinks Industry Ireland, so we had to go experience the buzz. And a buzz it was -- live ballads to a full house, quirky conversation pieces, wonderfully hospitable proprietor and team. It was a great place to visit and spend some time.

What a fantastic little gem in Thomastown. The fact that it's up near the top of the street might mean it's easily missed but we were delighted to have found it. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside and had a stroll around the lovely quirky garden and a good look at the plants for sale. It has wonderful staff who are part of the Camphill Community and that made it even more special for us.

Excellent golf course. Very well maintained. Greens in top shape. Well done and thanks to Edel and her team for a wonderful afternoon's golf. We also used the seating area for a picnic. Would definitely recommend.
