Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- John SNeenah, WI34 contributionsWhat a fascinating experience! We had no idea what we’d find when we decided to see the castle. Take the guided tour it’s well worth it. The history of the castle and its inhabitants was unknown to us before visiting. After, we had an understanding of the power and influence of the people that lived there. All very interesting!Written 29 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Derek K1 contributionDarren was great, very witty and knowledgeable about the history of Kilkenny and Smithwicks! The experience was very cool and used a good blend of guided tour, videos, and sensory experience!
As someone who worked in brewing, I would love some more knowledge on historical brewing techniques, but I also know that doesn't appeal to the broadest audience.Written 30 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Irene BYork, UK186 contributionsWe only went to The lady Helen restaurant.Sadly we were not staying there, From the second we entered, everyone was so pleasant, courteous and professional and friendly at the same time. We had the tasting menu.Although we’ve had many tasting experiences in a selection of Michelin star restaurants,in our opinion, this was certainly the best. It was a pleasant surprise to see the head chef,John Kelly, serving the most delicious veal,he spoke to every table. ,we were very impressed with him and he was so unpretentious and humble. There isn’t one single thing I could criticise, The staff really did make our night.Thank you to every single person.Written 6 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Patricia B1 contributionMy brother & myself visited today (May 11) & it was a delightful experience enhanced by the member of staff who went way over & above to show us around & give us the history of the estate. Pity it isn't publicised more - we only discovered it by accident. It is really worth a visit.Written 11 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Pam R6 contributionsIf cozy and small is your jam, this is the place for you! It is the best little pocket of goodness in Kilkenny. The ambiance lends to natural conversations among the patrons (the best bit). And if a wandering musician happens to stop in, well then, that is when the real magic happens! I hope that someday you will be as lucky as we were with our experiences here.Written 14 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tony and Sharon ZBrownsville, KY6 contributionsKilkenny Crystal afforded us with a unique, life event. We were able to cut our own piece of Crystal at the factory! We received instructions and training and made a wonderful cut crystal that we will always cherish. Richard and Francis are truly kind and gentle men that we are glad to have met.Written 11 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 743fairyIreland111 contributionsI had a 55 min Top to toe package here last week. The therapist Katie was very professional and I totally relaxed, in fact I think I was snoring at one stage!!😳The only thing was that the product used didn’t seem very luxurious and there were no real aromas. However I will definitely be back, thank youWritten 26 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Toby k2 contributionsWhat an amazing trip. we Kayaked for around 11 miles, which took about 5 hours? so its a long day on the water. we were knackered by the end. the locks were tricky so this really isnt a trip for the feint hearted, but i would definitely recommend! Plus the 2 ladies that set us up were amazing.

We were 36 miles into a gorgeous loop to the Duiske Abbey and back when my wife's e-bike suffered a flat about 10 miles from Kilkenny. Jason immediately assessed the situation, told us to wait for him to show up in his van (even recommended a pub to wait at!), picked us up and even dropped us off at our hotel. It was amazing service and a fun road trip back with him!
You definitely can't go wrong going on a cycle tour with Jason and his bikes!Written 21 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
