Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Paul THoi An, Vietnam58 contributionsI knew nothing of this heritage site before today, and I'm delighted to have visited.
The park includes the site of recently discovered Newtown Jerpoint a town abandoned in the 16th. century. While I'm familiar with the remains of Jerpoint Abbey, I knew nothing of the existence of the town across the river.
A genuine welcome, an exhibition of sheep herding by Glen the border collie and a tour of the site of the church of St. Nicholas made this an entertaining and informative day.
Children and the young at heart will enjoy this tour. People with an interest in history will be fascinated.
I highly recommend this park for a visit. If you are visiting Kilkenny City, it is only 20/25 minutes away. If you incorporate a visit to Kells Priory and Killree monastery on the Kings River, you will get a good insight into medieval Gaelic and Norman history in the area.Written 20 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jim BGrapeview, WA1,351 contributionsWe enjoyed our tour with Sinead as she took us through, learning the history of the house and the people who lived there. Although you can do a self guided tour, I think you get a lot more information on the guided tour. Looking from the street we assumed it was one house, but surprised to find that they built two more houses further back, with beautiful gardens behind those. Don't miss the gardens out back! Was interesting to learn more history about this area. Even found a great book, Pocket History of Ireland in their bookstore.Written 25 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ewa SBaltinglass, Ireland979 contributionsThe gardens are not very large, but I liked the apple tree tunnel a lot. The tour of a castle was very interesting and the lady of a house is very passionate about the property and its history. Overall very nice visit.Written 20 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Mary R2 contributionsHighlight of our trip to Kilkenny! Amazing find- go down alley- see sign - see Megan the bartender who was great & sit down in a townhouse that was built in the 1500s. Megan’s espresso martinis were amazing & you definitely can’t go wrong with a Guinness. Great place to make new friends, enjoy the music & take in the history! Highly recommend!Written 20 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- CC Lovejoy2 contributionsMy friend and I decided to give canoeing a go as neither of us had done anything like it before. Charlie knowledgeably explained to us what to expect on our Pilgrim Trail to Graiguenamanagh and back, and helped to boost our confidence in our own abilities. I have to say that this was honestly an amazing 'trip' in every sense of the word! We had a lot of fun and laughs while time ceased to exist as we drifted and paddled gently through the most amazing countryside immersed in the beauty of nature. I will never forget this wonderful experience on a truly glorious day. Thank you Charlie for being a part of this fabulous manifestation 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Written 27 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
