Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very impressive castle in a good state. It looks great by the river especially at night. Entrance was affordable and the information in the rooms informative.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have time for the full brewery tour. So we stopped by the pub/tasting room and had a flight of beer. I had two different bartenders assist us and they were both friendly, knowledgeable, and very informative.

The church is beautiful. It was closed when I visited on Christmas eve, but the grounds were open to walk through. I'd like to return to climb up the tower.

The tour guide was amazing, and filled us in in the history of Kilkenny in a very interesting and exiting way. The tour lasted about an hour, and gave us enough info to then visit the Kilkenny castle and the cathedrals, with a more complete knowledge of the history, and enabled us to enjoy it more. Therefore, I recommend you visit it, and at an early point in your visit too, before any other activities!

Had a fantastic tour given by Sinéad. She presented the property and history in a captivating and fun way and was happy to answer our questions. Much work has been done to restore and preserve the property and I very much appreciate a glimpse into the medieval history of Kilkenny. I learned several new things and even connected some dots to other tours in town. I highly recommend doing a tour of Rothe House.

Morgan was an incredible host. They were closed and opened for a private tour. He went above and beyond for an exemplary experience. Their locally made spirits are great and we purchased multiple bottles! Would definitely make this a priority visit!

A lot of history here. The audio remote thingees are the best I've ever used in a museum or art gallery. Very user-friendly.

We totally enjoyed looking at the locally made traditional crafts and art in a stunning setting. The medieval gardens were a terrific stop as well.

It was great to visit this atmospheric institution, not only for the plentiful information available but also because of its lengthy history.

Established in the late 1500s for the indigent and destitute of the city, a service it continued to provide until the early 1800s.

By the way, the staff told us that the Information Office is imminently relocating to new premises. They didn’t know what role this evocative building will have in the future.

We thought the National Reptile Zoo. Lots of amazing creatures to look at. Expensive enough to go in-€48 for two adults & two kids, but good fun. Our kids got to touch a cornsnake, gecko & tortoise. The lady doing the show & tell used words like ‘pedantic’ when kids answered questions correctly, so difficult for them to understand her or know if they were right or wrong about the animal facts they had. But overall a very enjoyable experience.

Capuchin monks established an almshouse on this site in the latter half of the 18th century. The lovely church we see today was established in the mid-1800s.

An impressive nave of light pink hue takes the sight to the fine altar area. Columns and arches sweep along and provide space with side chapels and various offerings.

Beautifully decorative, the high altar has a holy painting as its backdrop, complemented with attractive stone work.

Striking statuary is to be seen. One sculpture shows the poignant scene of Christ down from the cross with grieving women around him.
