Much work has been done to restore and preserve the property and I very much appreciate a glimpse into the medieval history of Kilkenny. I learned several new things and even connected some dots to other tours in town. - D S28 contributionsWe visited in the fall. The entrance fee is very reasonable. There is a little exhibit and washrooms in the reception. The ruins are pretty and there are information panels and displays in part of the ruins. - Irene BYork, UK192 contributionsWe only went to The lady Helen restaurant.Sadly we were not staying there, From the second we entered,everyone was so pleasant,courteous and professional and friendly at the same time. We had the tasting menu.Although we’ve had many tasting experiences in a selection of Michelin star restaurants,in our opinion,this was certainly the best. - permiaIreland66,882 contributionsCapuchin monks established an almshouse on this site in the latter half of the 18th century. The lovely church we see today was established in the mid-1800s.
An impressive nave of light pink hue takes the sight to the fine altar area. Columns and arches sweep along and provide space with side chapels and various offerings.
Beautifully decorative, the high altar has a holy painting as its backdrop, complemented with attractive stone work.
Striking statuary is to be seen. It was a very nice looking church with impressive high ceilings and stained glass windows.
