Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Mag SWexford, Ireland5 contributionsBought a beautiful Oak Beam recently for use as a mantle. Conor could not have been more helpful. He took the time to talk me through all my options and showed great knowledge, answering all my questions on installation and finishes. This place is a real gem. Highly recommend a visit but they are also online. Be sure to check them out … you’ll be glad you did!Written 16 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - patMillsboro, DE3 contributionsI can’t tell you how impressed I am with this company. I purchased a product that I absolutely loved while I was in Ireland. A Few days later when I returned to the US I realized i had lost a stone. I sent an email to customer service and Julie responded immediately. Within days Julie had a replacement sent out. I honestly wish US stores would be as responsive. I am so impressed by their customer service. I highly recommend doing business with them. Thank you so much Julie for being so responsive so quickly.Written 25 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - awfsomeSingapore, Singapore82 contributionsLovely place to get a little souvenir from Kilkenny that’s 100% local. I didn’t want another Guinness magnet or shamrock leaf inspired souvenir, and so this shop was a breath of fresh air. The lady owner in the shop was very helpful and gave great recommendations. Lovely display of items too!Written 7 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SpisakNovi, MI268 contributionsI wanted to purchase a special piece of jewelry for our first trip to Ireland. I had seen reviews for Desmond Byrne and his silver shop in Kilkenny and knew I had to meet him. The Kilkenny Handwrought Silver shop is located across the street from the castle in the Kilkenny Design Center. My husband and I were delighted to meet Desmond. He was such a wonderful, kind man and talented artist. He taught us all about silver and explained how he creates his beautiful silver pieces. He would have created a custom ring for me but as we only had one day I chose a ring he had made a few months ago. It had a Book of Kells pattern. It is beautiful! I would highly recommend visiting Desmond on your next trip to Kilkenny!Written 30 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Carissa B24 contributionsAt our hosts recommendation (Lawcus Farm), we stopped in here and were lucky enough to watch the glass blowing process. The pieces are beautiful. - Edel C1 contribution5 star experience and more if I could give it. It really was a worthy 10 star. I know on my last review I had expressed my disappointment at how some customers were not wearing face masks in the shop during covid, but thank god that horrendous time is behind us now.
Both my parents and myself called last Friday for my birthday. The experience was absolutely outstanding. Memories to cherish forever. The staff were extremely helpful and polite. We were blessed with such wonderful weather. My Dad is very unwell but we were able to take him out of the car and sit outside on the benches and have our tea and scones ( Scones which were the best we ever had in our lives !!! In fact, the best scones in Ireland !) My Dad loved looking out onto the river and seeing the wildlife, especially the swans. We sat outside for approx an hour taking in the beautiful scenery. We were able to pick up some truly amazing pieces of pottery to remember the wonderful day we had and a birthday I will never forget. Thank you for creating the memories. We will call again soon.

Trevor gave us an impromptu explanation of how the sheep are selected and graded, how the wool is harvested, carded, washed, spun, and woven through the mill and finally turned into beautiful high quality blankets, shawls, scarves, etc.
We were very impressed by this operation -- one of only two totally horizontal woolen mills (from wool to finished product) left in Ireland. They have very high quality and work with the sheep farmers to purchase directly from specific herds for their wool.
Once part of the Duiske Abbey grounds, built and operated by the Cistercian monks, now this mill is in the hands of the same family for many generations. They maintain their high quality by hands-on processes, no computerization.Written 26 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I visited Kilkenny on a tour and had a short time to explore the town. It was a lovely town and Darcy's Treasure was my favourite store. I went with a girl i just met on the tour. I got a cool Dublin number plate to send to my dad in South Africa( he loves number plates ) and the friendly owner gave both the girl and i a free magnet and her a discount .
Friendly owner who is always ready to help , offer advice and is definitely a gem in KilkennyWritten 23 December 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Kids loved it today and picked up lots of unusual goodies and my elder lad was even more impressed that he could grab a cheeky pack of Pokemon cards here too.Written 29 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - hilaryfgBristol, UK9 contributionsJust received a quality print of the Irish Grand Slam Six Nations 2018 Winners from the gallery and it is simply stunning. Great quality in terms of the printed surface and content and extremely well packaged and the service is excellent. The gallery is well worth a visit and the on-line site is easy to access and purchase from a quality product range.Written 10 April 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They did send the wrong glasses, and didn't respond to the email as such, but it was an honest mistake and I'm sure they'd have sorted it at another time.
