Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Maura K3 contributionsBeautiful beach, very clean and nice and spacious. Took our dogs for a nice long walk, understandable how it’s a blue flag beach! Grabbed a tasty coffee after! Would recommend to reconnect with nature and natural beautyWritten 8 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - hussgolfPittsburgh, PA63 contributionsWe tried playing here 20 years ago in a pouring rain.

Out of all the experiences we had in Ireland this was by far my favorite! The trek was beautiful and I will never forget it. A once in a lifetime experience.Written 29 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Greg T3 contributionsIWHB did an OUTSTANDING job planning an itinerary tailored to our wants in a country we had no familiarility with. They listened to what we wanted to see (nature) and not see (churches, castles or anything with much of a crowd) and they were spot on with their accomodation choices, restaurant suggestions, and points of interest. They made the process stress-free including map links to precisely where we needed to go (for example, Tully Mountain which has no trailhead sign). From Dean at the front end to Clodagh regularly checking in during the trip, we always felt they were going to make it a wonderful vacation - and it was. We highly recommend them.Written 4 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- T_aurora_B6 contributionsWe enjoyed a lovely hour long trek along Derrymore beach with Tim today! He was very friendly & accommodating and we felt immediately at ease- although we were new to horses! - Chuck627Calgary41 contributionsWe were a group of 4 and recently completed a 10-day tour of Ireland organized by Premier Irish Golf Tours. As a preface to the review below the trip was booked with a deposit almost a year in advance and paid in full as required.
First impressions:
Arrived on time and met driver Michael at Dublin Airport. He was very good!
No initial meeting (or checkups throughout the trip) with a representative of Premier Irish Golf Tours as per itinerary
No Southwest Pack on arrival as per itinerary
No Gift Pack on arrival as per itinerary
Day 1 cont’d:
We proceeded to Lahinch as planned. I asked for an official itinerary (hard copy or email) and one was not made available. We arrived at Lahinch but plans had changed. We were not staying in Lahinch as planned but playing Lahinch and then driving to Ballybunnion as we had a 7:30 tee-time (first) at Ballybunnion the next morning. We were told a new driver for the remainder of the trip would be waiting for us after the round and he was. We had a late (2:00 If I remember correctly) tee-time at Lahinch and had the weather not been unbelievably bad (we only played 10 holes) we would not have made the last ferry (8:00 pm) arriving at Ballybunnion around 10:30 pm. At that time at night we were unable to check out any scenery. The hotel (Teach de Broc) was very accommodating a put together a late dinner for us.
Day 2:
7:30 tee-time at Ballybunnion (up the street) required the hotel to put together a quick breakfast for us. Ballybunnion was excellent and I will review separately. After the round we drove to Killarney to check in to the Old Weir Lodge as planned. Our reservation was wrong (2 rooms one bed vs 2 rooms 2 beds) but fortunately the Lodge (separate review) managed to accommodate us.
Reflecting on our first two days it appeared that the late tee-time at Lahinch and early tee-time at Ballybunnion caused us to have to change our Day 1 and 2 plans. Based on locations I would suggest that a late Lahinch and early Ballybunnion tee-time the next day will not work to any Customer’s satisfaction. We felt somewhat hard done by as it honestly appeared that we were a last-minute addition to the tee sheet in both courses (more on this later)
Day 3:
Dooks – excellent course as advertised and all went as planned.
Day 4:
Waterville – interesting trip there due to road construction but very scenic. We arrived early and we negotiated (with a small gratuity) an earlier tee-time. Golf was excellent. We weren’t overly interactive with our driver as to what we were seeing (the van wasn’t the best for a tour – it was transportation) but a scenic trip home never the less. Again a later tee time would have meant a trip back to Kerry in the dark.
Day 5:
Tralee – late tee-time again! Another small gratuity got us out an hour early and had we had to keep our original tee-time we would not have finished the round. 5+ hour rounds but course and staff were magnificent!
Day 6:
We booked our own tee-time on the way to Kinsale - and proceeded to the Trident Hotel in Kinsale as planned.
Day 7:
Last tee-time (2:30) of the day at the magnificent Old Head – it was as advertised but no way to move up the time. We finished in time but after a quick bite we set off for a 3-hour drive to Dublin arriving at 11:00 pm. We were originally set to stay at the Portmarnock Hotel but those plans were changed – we were sent to the Castlenock Hotel which we believe is a step down from the agreed to Portmarnock Hotel. Again we felt that arrangements were made at the last minute at Tralee, Old Head and the Portmarnock Hotel and we ended up with late tee-times and a back up hotel. No way a late tee-time works at Old Head with a trip to Dublin after!
Day 8:
Day off golf and a day off for our driver. A pre-paid cab was arranged for our trip to tour Guinness and Dublin. We had a 1:00 ticket and after the cab didn’t show we made our own arrangements (at our cost). Good day after that!
Day 9:
Played The Island Golf Links with a good tee-time – course was quiet. No caddies were pre-booked as planned but they let us take carts so not all bad!
Day 10:
Played Portmarnock – it was epic. No caddies were pre-booked as planned but were available. We decided to go alone and the day went well.
Day 11:
Off to the airport as planned.
By not having the official itinerary (different from the agreed to version) presented we had to go on a “need to know” basis day by day. We normally like to be more organized but we took a relaxed attitude to everything and avoided worrying too much in advance - ``just in time worrying``. We were there for the golf and the little things that got in the way didn`t prevent us from playing. We did play golf and it was as good as we had hoped (the courses that is). All the courses and staff couldn`t have been friendlier and accommodating and I will review separately along with a couple of the hotels. Having said that I felt that our group of 4 was an afterthought to this Company and wouldn`t recommend them to anyone considering a golf trip to Ireland.Written 28 September 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - C. W3 contributions3 of us booked a surf lesson at the Banna Strand beach. On the day the wave conditions weren’t great but that didn’t takeaway from what was a really fun and enjoyable couple of hours.
Both the instructors were very helpful, patient and friendly.Written 11 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The location is really conveniently located across the road from the start of the greenway and around the corner from the bus and train station. Lovely friendly and helpful staff. The Tralee to Fenit greenway is charming and an easy delightful cycle.Written 19 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DCresident2020Washington DC, DC2 contributionsThis May 2023, I was also attacked by a sheep dog between Lispole and Dingle. There’s a beautiful field and then the trail goes up into farm land. I saw the dog and ignored it. I heard barking and it grabbed my ankle and knocked me down.Written 12 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
