Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We arrived at the windmill to a very happy face, full of chat but apologised that their tour guide had called in sick so offered us a reduction on entry, which was a nice touch. I have to say they didn't need a tour guide the man front of house was a star very informative and made it all sound amazing. Made us feel at ease immediately, whatever he is being paid it needs to be doubled didn't catch his name but I k ow he is from West Cork. Then after the windmill which was fab we met the man in the red jacket in the model train room. Wow just wow his passion for trains was unreal and made the whole experience a good one. Will definitely recommend this as a place to stop and afterwards have a coffee and cake in the tearooms next door.

I always try to call in to St John's every time I am in Tralee, it is such a beautiful place and always so serene and calm.
Yesterdays visit was my first in about 16 months but the place has lost none of its charm and grandeur.
I love the stone walks and the beautiful cross beams in the roof. The stained glass is captivating too. I'm not sure what word to use about it, not cosy I suppose or even homely, but welcoming.

We drove along the causeway and looked out at the small but perfectly formed lighthouse. The location is beautiful and dramatic as the weather was not best and you could see the clouds rolling in from the Atlantic.

Potential visitors, please note that there is no access to the interior of the tower, and due to ongoing renovation work it is also not possible to get right up next to the base of the tower - there is a wall a few feet away from it. You can, however, visit the ruins of a medieval church and graveyard adjacent to it. There are no opening times - the church and graveyard are accessible at all times.

This is a place I visit fairly regularly and must say it is a wonderful amenity just about 14kms from Tralee and accessible from Castleisland -Tralee road. There are signposts
pointing towards Trailhead. There are three loops of different length in Glouageentha, all signposted and over varying terrain. It is an ideal spot for walking, jogging or for family outings. Parts of the routes would be considered to be strenuous and it is advisable to wear supportive footwear. The routes weave in and out of forestry, along by a stream, over some footbridges and parts are exposed which presents beautiful views to the Kerry mountains. At the main entrance there is a map of the walks displayed and also limited parking. There is a big sized car park about 200 metres from the entrance. There are a number of picnic tables along the routes. A couple of hours in Glouageentha is time well spent

This is the ruin of a 10th Century Church. Quite possibly the main church in the diocese of Kerry before the seat moved to Ardfert Cathedral.

When out for our morning walk while enjoying our stay in Tralee we came across the Rose Garden Town Park. We stopped to take photos of the Rose of Tralee statue. Read the boards with the names/ cities of the young ladies who entered the competition from all over the world. Much to our surprise we discovered our friend’s daughter was an entry in 1989! A very nice surprise to see Tara’s name listed! The rose garden was gorgeous and many varieties of roses as well as memorial statues and plaques.

Helen Shanahan's gallery just outside Tralee is well worth a visit, especially for those interested in Irish art. Helen is knowledgeable about the artists and paintings.

It is humbling finding your ancesteral home only to see just the gates as the house is long gone. But in side the gates were these beautiful Ogham stones that predate a lot of world history which is rather cool.
