Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really enjoyed our visit to Muckross House and Gardens.
There is a lot of parking which is free. The grounds are lovely and we walked 25 minutes up to Torc Waterfall (so we didn't have to fight for a parking space there later on). Only did the gardens and enjoyed lunch in the cafe.
The only charge is if you want entry to the house and farms.

A beautiful, peaceful and unspoilt spot. Free entry was a real bonus. Nice walks in the area, although a few more signposts would have helped.

This was so fun! After seeing the Muckross House & Gardens it was really educational to see how more normal people - farmers, laborers, craftsmen, teachers - lived. I also have wanted to pet a sheep since we arrived in Ireland. Not because we don’t have them at home in the states, we do, but they are EVERYWHERE here and so stinking cute. So getting a little petting zoo of farm animals here was really fun. All of the tour guides were so knowledgeable and friendly.

    I highly recommend this!

This spot in Killarney is a journey back in time. The ruins show a world where scholars and monks were once hosted and you can feel the history as you walk the grounds. Only accessible by boat, this island still has the shell of several buildings intact and was the first university in Europe. There is a walking trail around the island that was the most peaceful and tranquil experience of my whole visit to Ireland; complete with a herd of deer grazing in a meadow. It was quite muddy in spring so I wish I had worn hiking boots and not sneakers, but this is a WONDFUL spot to visit and worth the meager $15 boat ride.

We were treated to a lovely concert in this beautiful, peaceful church by the men's choir, a soloist and a young boy playing a keyboard. An outstanding performance all around!

We came upon the Franciscan Friary during a self-guided walking tour of Killarney.

The Franciscan church was opened in 1867, the friary in 1879.

Killarney House is a converted stable building so not of any particular architectural interest. There are 3 rooms set out in the period when it was inhabited, complete with wonderful furniture, saved from a fire which destroyed the original house. There is also an inter-active exhibition upstairs, which we did not have time to visit. The garden and views of the mountains are lovely. A great place for a wet weather visit, very interesting and free to enter.

As we were parked over at St Mary's Cathedral, we decided to visit Killarney National Park also as it was a fabulous day. We were able to sit in the Park and then also visited the Tea-rooms where we had an ice-cream. All proceeds of the tea-rooms was being donated to Down Syndrome Ireland.
There was so much space and thankfully not many people. I loved seeing the jaunting cars. A lovely time and space for all the family.

Look I'm a chicken and I already talk a lot so I did NOT kiss the Blarney Stone. That aspect a bit commercial but the grounds were beautiful and the history interesting. Worth a visit

    The township very quaint.
It was pouring rain on our day so this limited our visit somewhat.
Enjoyed the Castle even for someone who had no interest in kissing the Blarney Stone.
Hubby got a picture though (of course). Job Done. 😊

If you are staying at nearby hotels or B&Bs you can just walk up to the display, which is right next to the road leading to the Dunloe Gap. There is a sign that explains some details about the 5 or six stones collected here.

Hidden away near Aghadoe Heights Hotel, this ruin of Norman castle is easily accessable, you can climb up one level and is in perfect condition

The location in a courtyard like area through a "Lane"/alley is a little tricky to find. The well is fenced off and locked but it doesn't stop people from tossing money in to make a wish!
