Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- kdavis814Saint Louis, MO19 contributionsStunning. This was a site we had looked up the history prior and was so excited to see. We went later in the day near sunset and only a few other people were at the site. The Waze app had us questioning if we were in the right place; but, we ended up at a small parking lot and very close to the abbey. But, there was still some walking to do. The grounds were well kept, clean. The site was really something out of a movie. I wanted to look and read every script/headstone. There was even ancient graffiti, if you will. It really felt like a holy, solemn placeWritten 29 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- AlbertSalichsManresa, Spain24,101 contributionsSt. Mary's Cathedral is a church located in Killarney, a town in Western Ireland. It was built.between the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century in a gothic style. It is a typical church in Ireland, which you can visit and see.the altar and the main organ. Very nice place to come after visiting Killarney National Park.Written 27 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Carolyn HCalgary, Canada40 contributionsWe were delighted by the beauty and warmth of this church; the stained glass is lovely and reflects the theology of the time - for example, Moses is depicted with horns and a pelican is seen feeding her brood. The Spraoi Chiarrai concert was delightful; we thoroughly enjoyed listening to the talented young folk but were disappointed we couldn't photograph them. (We understand why photographs weren't allowed.)Written 15 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ann CNashville, TN3,395 contributionsWe came upon the Franciscan Friary during a self-guided walking tour of Killarney.
The Franciscan church was opened in 1867, the friary in 1879.Written 5 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Some car parking available and walking distance from hotel and public car park on main road. Very nice to have visited.Written 19 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ginny WEl Cajon, CA24 contributionsSmall but extremely loving congregation. Rev, Spence is wonderful and the lay pastors are always good. We spend summers in Killarney and know that we still have a church home that we can be part of. An example of the Living Loving God, in a beautiful, but smaller, brick cathedral. As stated in another review, non-Catholic churches are somewhat non-existent, but this is a jewel!Written 20 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GerardTonlegeeDublin, Ireland85 contributionsAttended Mass here and was struck dumb by the open view at the back of the alter. This just showed the beauty of God’s creation. A beautiful place to meditate on the Sounders of creation.Written 7 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
