What travellers are saying
- WBinSingapore, Singapore458 contributionsOne of the best national parks I have been to. It is free, very well maintained, clean of litter and the hikers here are very considerate group. There is a park guide at the entrance with a map to show you the hiking routes. Red for the toughest upper loop, blue (1 hour) for less steep climb but both will be rewarded with great views. The climb on the rocky surface at the last part of the red loop is the toughest. The surrounding landscape and view is amazing and boardwalk makes it easier. The view of the water and lakes from the top is spectacular. Carry a bottle of water, wear hiking shoes and don’t wear too thick clothes as it get very hot after climbing up. Bring a windbreaker as it could get windy. The walk is around 2-3 hours depending on how fit you are. There are clean washrooms, an indoor cafe and outdoor benches to sit (bring your own picnic) at the visitors centre at the entrance. The National park is definitely worth visiting but do go early before it gets too hot and crowded. The car park (free) gets filled up and there is additional parking on the side of the road. I enjoyed my visit here. It is 10 min drive from Kylemore Abbey.Written 1 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andrew S1 contributionAmazing day spent touring the Cliffs of Moher and the Burrens. Damien was a great guide, his sense of humour and local knowledge was priceless. - pfefmeisterSan Francisco, CA2,849 contributionsIt’s maybe 4 miles round trip from Eyre Square and worth the undertaking. Once you get to the promenade, the beach areas appear, though, not too appealing this time of year. Restaurants, an amusement park, and a few shops are populated along the walk. A nice exercise for a couple of hours, enjoy the fresh air.Written 6 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AleutianDashAnchorage, AK24 contributionsThe ferries are well managed and offer a smooth painless ride to a unique and fairly well-preserved culture, a land of stark beauty. Unavoidably, the Aran Islands are a tourist magnet. Their great mysteries lie largely in the past (though they will come at least partly to life for you if you read J. M. Synge's early 20th C. book about them). Once you're on Inis Mór (Inishmore), largest of the three Aran Islands, you can get a strong sense of their unusual character by renting a bike, which many visitors do. It's not far or difficult to pedal to the visitor center from which you can walk 1 km to the ruins of the great ancient fort at Dùn Aonghasa. I recommend buying (for roughly 10 euros) the site's guidebook.Written 3 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sophie & PaulMontreal, Canada225 contributionsThe atmosphere is festive, bars and restaurants are plentiful, and the history is worth well taking in. Spread over a number of lanes you will likely cover the historical and Latin quarter of Galway within a day or two (depending on your pace). It's certainly worth the time to stop by and admire the architecture and quaint shops.Written 8 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mandy CArlington, VA121 contributionsWe walked along the bay by Nikki’s pier up to mutton island and had a great time. I like bird watching and saw a bunch of new birds while we were there. It was incredibly windy but we still really enjoyed ourselves.
One note is that there is not a public bathroom for quite awhile so be aware of that as you begin your walk.Written 28 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul HAmes, IA57 contributionsThis eclectic garden, organized as a series of themed guided walks through a variety of landscapes, is edifying, inspiring, and beautiful. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves very much, and it was a pleasure to see families and schoolchildren, attended by teachers, benefit from the stories, history lessons, and flora identification present in this garden. The staff is pleasant and attentive, the grounds are meticulously well cared for, and there is plenty of space to feel that you are alone when you want to be alone and with your thoughts.Written 1 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - pfefmeisterSan Francisco, CA2,849 contributionsNice walk along the river, but, it ended before I wanted it to. It goes for maybe a mile along a trail that sits between the river and a canal. Quite lovely as it is, it just feels like it needs to be longer - I did not want it to end so soon.Written 6 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kam-HaiderLondon, UK392 contributionsA beautiful place to relax by the sea. Sand nice and clean. Free parking on road side. This is a hidden gem it wasn't particularly busy despite the weather being decent. - May BKilkenny, Ireland1,137 contributionsAllow at least an hour and a half to do this justice . Try and do the guided tour . There’s history in every stone .The church is like a time line of Irish history since the foundation stone was laid .
St Nicholas is the saint who gave us Santa. The church is named for him. Over two levels there is a lift to improve accessibility. A good display on the impact of weirs on riverine fish and a display on Galway Hooker boats which was unexpected and worth looking at. We didn’t have young children with us but it seemed an especially good activity for children.Written 22 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
