Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- K M KIreland11 contributionsI remember when getting on the ferry to Cherbourg was the start of the holiday but now it is something to be endured. The staff look so sad and if it is true they are badly paid you feel somehow complicit in their treatment. The food in the Boylan restaurant served on a cold plate is terrible and I see more and more travellers bringing their own. I wonder would the people who own this company be happy with the brown lettuce contained in a cardboard box. Surely it is time to take a long look at this. This is a really good ferry being let down by people intent on cost cutting and greed. Not the Irish way.Written 12 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Paul and Marie MScottsdale, AZ2 contributionsOur first experience in the Plus Lounge from Dublin to Cairnryan and it was worth the extra money. We wanted the upgrade mainly to avoid kids. The lounge was about 80% full with better dressed adults. Washrooms were private and clean. This was most important to us. Food was not a concern so the buffet was a nice extra. Because there were no kids we didnt have food all over the floor as you often do with kids and a buffet. We were able to secure window seats which was also nice. Only suggestion is that the windows could have been cleaner but I am not sure if thats realistic with the open ocean air etc...overall pleased and the first on/first off was also included and a definite bonus.Written 27 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - loremipsam3 contributionsMy family had a bit of a harrowing experience on the way to Dublin between a last-minute ER visit and our airline flubbing our lap baby reservation... so to arrive after our red-eye and have our party of six picked out of the gaggle of other arriving travelers in Terminal 2 (even a bit ahead of schedule) immediately set our trip back on the right trajectory.
Ger got us from and to the airport with punctuality, cheer, and wit, and the van and car seats were immaculate. I'd recommend his service in a heartbeat to anyone visiting Dublin with littles.Written 20 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The trams were clean, punctual and ran to a very good timetable.
Would thoroughly recommend using the trams while in Dublin.

- md1mmSheffield, UK1,566 contributionsThis is the local train system for Dublin. It is not very extensive but the area it covers, it does so very well. Trains are frequent, very good value and overall a great experience and a good way to travel if there is a station near your origin and destination.Written 6 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. However, my travelling companion and I were travelling with a large suitcase each and a back pack. It would have been very helpful, to know in advance, which end of the car had the luggage storage. When we got on we found out the luggage racks were at the opposite end of the car, but other people boarding were right behind us so we had to proceed. The aisle was way too narrow to pull the suitcases on their wheels, so had to turn them sideways and drag the entire length of the car. There was a boarding door right at the luggage rack, so if there was a way to indicate this, prior to departure, it would have been very helpful. We had reserved seats, but others were already sitting in our seats by the time we got to them. They had to remove the meal they'd set out, so that we could sit in our seats. The young lady with the beverage cart came by and only served the opposite side, to us, in the car. it took forever for her to come back and serve our side of the car. We saw freshly brewed coffee on the menu and ordered two. This was the worst coffee ever! It was not fresh brewed, it was instant and came in a cup that had a mesh screen to prevent the undisolved grounds from being drank. At a cost of €3.70, don't waste your money. Buy a coffee before you get on the train. The ride was fine and the train was clean. The washroom could have done with a freshen up part way through the trip.Written 5 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michelle SOahu, HI1 contributionWe had an amazing day with Ben Thursday.
What a delight to have him as our driver, teacher and restaurateur!
He was knowledgeable, efficient, kind, and had a great sense of humor!
He made our trip to Ireland absolutely wonderful!
He taught us so much about the history of Ireland.
He made suggestions on where to go, what to do and what not to do! We learned so much from him everywhere we went. He strongly suggested we go to EPIC the Emigration Museum. What an amazing place to visit and learn all about Ireland.
Ben had a positive, polite, happy attitude!
He knew exactly where to take us, where to make a reservation for us for lunch and always had a smile to share with us.
If we are ever lucky enough to return to Ireland, we will be requesting him as our driver!
Thank you Ben for your kindness, your sense of humor and your story telling.
We are grateful to have had our own personal Seannachie!
The spelling may be wrong but the story telling was wonderful!
A special thank you to Ben for the perfect Ireland experience!!!Written 26 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Being from Galway he knew things our travel agent did not and his stops ended up being some highlights from our trip! He kept us on track for our scheduled stops, but added routes filled with beautiful scenery. He even played Irish music that matched our drive!!! Donal had a wonderful sense of humor and fell in perfectly with our family! This was a professional experience with a personal touch… pure perfection!!!Written 13 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gary BHindley, UK10 contributionsCaught the ferry from Liverpool to Dublin on Monday and returned on Friday,
although mainly for freight the ferries are comfortable and clean although there are some stairs to negotiate which rules out persons with disabilities. On the plus side two free meals are included and the price is great.Written 16 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We also booked the Wicklow Day Trip with him-and he is a wealth of knowledge regarding every site we visited. He selected a wonderful pub to stop and grab a bite at. Furthermore, he arranged a lovely experience at the Powerscourt Distillery, which sits adjacent to the beautiful Powerscourt Estate. If you want to feel well cared for during your stay, Dave will fulfill that wish!Written 3 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SwedishtomcatDiss, UK3,436 contributionsThis tunnel should come with a warning since you’ll probably struggle to hold your breath for the entire length as it is almost three miles long. Sticking to the 50mph speed limit means it takes approx three-and-a-half minutes to get through.Written 7 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - rosebudQuinn97County Dublin, Ireland15 contributionsIt would be great if they could expand the route to include Rathcoole too as this is still part of County Dublin. Few weeks ago the first route was full to its capacity by the time the airport hopper reached part of Clondalkin. They had to call for another out. Tip is you are better to book online so that, and I hope, this means it is guarantee that you are on that route you paid for. Never had any problems with them and always divert my visitors to use this and I pick them up somewhere between stops.Written 24 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
