Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Anthony was our tour guide. What a gent! He was brilliant. Really loved the tour. He was so informed and u could tell he had a real passion for it. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Amazing place with amazing stories. He is excellent at his job. All the staff were so helpful and kind. Highly recommend but make sure to book. The museum is a must see too.

The last time I was here was 15 years ago and they stepped up their game! It was so cool to see how immersive they made the tour. I was a little worried that it was going to be like it was before where you have a guide lead you around but I loved that it was self paced and interactive. Great job!

I went for the Ultimate Tour, which includes The Walk of Shame and the indoor tour of the museum. I think it is one of the must-see to learn about the history of Dublin. The museum itself contains so many little artefacts, but they each has so much meaning and history behind them. The Walk of Shame is definitely something else because you learn about histories that you may not hear from other tours.

Fionn was my tour guide for both tours. He was absolutely entertaining, and walked us through (literally) the history with a showman’s flare that’s very fitting for this whimsical museum. There was also a French bloke who was working at the shop and he was just super lovely, but I forgot to catch his name.

Totally recommend this tour, especially if you are interested in the history of Dublin but short on time.

Alan took very good care of us and showed us and told us the history and anecdotes about the Irish rock scene. Alan is inspiering and know his stuff. Alan is also convinced that everybody in some way or another is connected to Ireland. 😀

This is a very recently opened museum and was not in our guidebook (Rough Guide 2022) but is excellent and well worth a visit. It is located very near the Beckett Locke Hotel at The Point where we stayed. It is an upbeat, as opposed to the often maudlin, approach to the Irish diaspora, celebrating the achievements and resilience and bravery of emigrants. We loved it.

Fun fact - If you want to taste your way through a huge range of Irish Whiskeys, and have already visited plenty of Distilleries in other countries, or maybe have just come off a good look around Jameson's or Teeling's, you don't need to go on a 23 Euros guided tour of Dublin's Irish Whiskey Museum to do just that!
The upstairs Whiskey Bar at the Museum, just across a busy main road from Trinity College, is open to anyone who just walks in off the street, and the knowledgeable Barman will point novices in the right direction, with plenty of helpful and impartial advice.
My evening in the congenial surroundings of the McDonnell's Whiskey Bar was not only educational and informative but also entertaining, as free live music was provided on Saturday night, when the bar stays open until 22:30 hours.
On the Barman's suggestion I began with the House 15 year-old Single Malt (a snip at EUR 16:50 or GBP 13:70) and moved on to the Connemara 22 y/o. Which is pretty much the last thing that I remember before waking up in my hotel room next morning with a slight headache!

I learnt more history on the tour than I learnt throughout secondary school - a wonderful experience offered by Niamh de Paor whose enthusiasm and energy for what she shares is so palpable. Informative, interesting, insightful and humorous - this tour of the Cemetery and of some of those buried within it is a must! A real piece of Dublin history brought to life by an exceptional guide. Thank you Niamh.

This is the tour to be if you want to learn about the potato famine. There are pretty realistic looking wax figures of passengers in the lower decks, along with posters and photos, that give you snippets of what happened during that time period. Owen was a great guide and very informative.

Fun way to spend a few hours. My spouse is a big fan of vikings and there was lots of information on the history of vikings in the area.

I found this museum on a fluke and went in and talked to one of the staff. She recommended I come back for the 2:30 guided tour. It was amazing! Nicole, the tour guide, did an excellent job. She was such a font of information. I was extremely pleased with the experience. I teach research in high school and I’m always going on about using primary sources. The museum had amazing primary sources that really tell the story of the 1916 Easter uprising. Whoever curated it was phenomenal! As I am from the United States, this is something I really didn’t understand. Now I feel like I have a real handle on it. There was a short film that gave me a solid understanding of what happened. It is a very compelling story! Thank you, Nicole!!

This was a good bit of fun for about 45 minutes or so. The storytelling was good fun and well tailored to the audience of mixed adults and children and the tour guide, Neive, was great.

Just outside of the city, on through, LUAS line, within the old army barracks is this wonderful exhibition, of furniture, art and various pieces through the ages, and it is all free.

Took my music loving Granson along for a tour down memory lane and Windmill Studio has created an atmosphere and facilities to inspire both local and international musicians in recording their craft over the past 40 years and more. Ambition and vision played a large part of the success story, to grow and know what one is growing towards is a source of strength and confidence. Great to see the technology that evolved along the way from my own personal preference in my collection of the fluid, warmth overtones from analog desks to the computerised digital recording which offers versatility, convenience and as the technology progressed and improved as self evident in my own personal collection that has remastered editions of the early digital CD's restore the chopped top and bottom the current systems are flawless these days.
There is but one secret to success and that is never give up and Windmill built a reputation on providing a studio service and facilities that attracted many visiting artists to capture some studio work while on the road touring. Maeve's tour narrating events that occured as the various artists passed through Windmill and Dublin is very interesting and entertaining.
Musicians determine and solve the commercial nature of their future by taking hold of every opportunity and Windmill Studio delivered those opportunities when requested and required.
Positively the best experience. Well done.

I took the tour where I learned about different printing machine methods throughout the different centuries. Also they have an original Irish Republic proclamation from Easter Rising and you get to hear the history of how it was pressed. Everyone there was extremely friendly and I recommend it.
