Though Oscar Wilde never attended Trinity College Dublin, the university stands as a monumental cultural and intellectual symbol of his era. As one of Ireland’s most iconic landmarks, Trinity connects us to the vibrant literary and artistic spirit that shaped Wilde’s world.

    A Timeless Cultural Beacon
Founded in 1592, Trinity College Dublin is an enduring symbol of Ireland’s rich academic and cultural traditions. Its Long Room Library is a breathtaking space that houses thousands of historic volumes, many of which date back to the 19th century—the time of Wilde’s life and works. Stepping into this vaulted hall feels like walking into the past, where the whispers of Ireland’s greatest minds echo among the shelves. 📜✨

At the heart of Trinity’s treasures lies the Book of Kells, a masterpiece of medieval artistry and an emblem of Ireland’s deep cultural roots. Viewing this illuminated manuscript offers insight into the artistic and historical influences that inspired generations of Irish writers, including Wilde, whose wit and intellect were deeply rooted in Ireland’s cultural legacy. 📖🎨

    Delve Into Wilde’s Literary World
A visit to Trinity College isn’t complete without pausing to reflect on its role as a hub for Dublin’s literary scene. Although Wilde’s brilliance was honed elsewhere, Trinity provides an invaluable backdrop for understanding the literary currents of his time. For a deeper connection, consider attending a “Wilde and Dublin Literature” themed lecture, exploring his creative genius within the broader context of 19th-century literary movements. 🎙️🌍

    Why Visit Trinity College Dublin?
Trinity College Dublin is more than a university; it’s a living testament to Ireland’s literary soul. Whether you’re admiring the grandeur of the Long Room, marveling at the artistry of the Book of Kells, or exploring connections to Wilde’s Dublin, the experience is a feast for the mind and spirit. 🏛️🌟

Visited the Christmas at the Castle event. The Christmas market and decorations were nice. Bonus was thar we were able to visit the Dublin Caste State Rooms and the Royal Chapel too. Was not expecting that.
The State Rooms had beautiful Christmas decorations and they only took a small group of people in so it was not crowded.
    The Royal Chapel was awesome.

We had a great visit to St Michan's . We were greeted by Beatrice who was very warm and welcoming. We then started our tour of the church and crypt with our excellent guide Andrew.
It was a very relaxed and informative tour. Andrew not only told the fascinating history of the church and crypts, but also gave us information on how the church, and it's parishioners played a role in various stages of Ireland's history.
St Michan's is well worth a visit.

I admittedly did not cross this bridge, but it was one of my favorite views from the O'Casey bridge (the next bridge up the river). It has such a stunning, graceful harp shape. I suppose this is an homage to the national symbol of Ireland.

The Customs House stands proud over the Quayside of the River Liffey. Dating to 1791, the Customs House represented the British domination of the Irish through taxation. The IRA burned the building in 1921 in order to destroy tax records. This magnificent classical architecture was completely restored after the revolution. Today, the building houses the Irish Department of Environment, Heritage, and Local Government.

A Visitor Center with a historical audio tour is available for a fee. I opted to enjoy the exterior. Very impressive.

    Enjoy!

Building dates from 18 century, it's located in Dublin city center - Dame street. It's next to the Dublin castle, so it's great to do both tours. In town hall you'll find beautiful exhibition about historical Dublin.

Beautiful historic setting - both the buildings and the grounds are wonderful.
    The exhibits are interesting.

Give the café a miss - ridiculously overpriced and pretentious. (€4.10 for a medicore cappucino.. in a glass 🙄).

I was actually just looking for somewhere to get international stamps for my post cards, and saw signs to a post office. At the time, I didn't realize there was other historic significance to it, as I didn't have time to check out the museum that is also there.

But as a post office, I was quite satisfied. It's a beautiful, grand building, both inside and out, and the service was friendly and efficient.

Located at College Green – just opposite Trinity College, this beautiful building was originally the House of Lords in Ireland and retains the décor and artefacts of its previous history. Just go into the bank and in the main teller hall there are displays of historical coinage and financial instruments, which is worth a look. However, you can sometimes go into the Lords’ Chamber, now a meeting room – just ask, it’s worth a look for 5 minutes
