Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a wonderful trip that includes a lot to see. Bunratty Folk Park is really interesting and well worth a visit. The drive along the Wild Atlantic Way is spectacular. The cliffs were great but the views were limited because we had fog at the time.

It was a good tour. The only complaint I would have is that in the verbiage description it says, enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the train, but there was no breakfast options beyond the little cart that came around which had very limited selections. It’s difficult when taking these early morning tours because most restaurants aren’t open in Dublin to be able to get something decent to eat. Would be nice if that was better explained because it was misleading in the description of the tour and we could’ve prepared a little bit better.

This tour was lovely. Rail is the way to go when trying to cover a lot of real estate in a day. Much more comfortable than a bus. Our tour guide, Paddy, was simply delightful. What a wonderful sense of humor. He spoke with all and kept us informed throughout. I cannot say enough about him!! If you have a chance, book thru this operator. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to have Paddy as your guide.

The coach ride was fine, but it is an extremely long day. Have to take 2 trains from Dublin to get the coach in Killarney to start the actual tour. It was a gorgeous day, and the scenery was lovely. Highlight of the tour is the sheepherding demonstration. Absolutely wonderful! Overall the tour was great, but it is very dependent upon the weather, and you have to be up for a 16-hour day. But if you are, do it!

This was a wonderful last trip experience for us. We had a smaller passenger bus which made it that much more intimate and we were very appreciative of our host, John Todd, and our driver, Gabby. They were both really helpful and informative.

I have always wanted to see and visit Ireland, and i was able to see many places in a short time. As a solo traveler, i was content with the time spent at certain places (and there were many along the way!), taking many photos. I can see how some may think people get rushed, but one must respect that that it is a timed tour, and sometimes people need to catch a bus/train later in the day. Unfortunately I had to spend more due to being a solo traveler. Some other tours were overlapping, some joining us later in the week, making some scenarios and itineraries confusing, but trust the process, as it works out in the end! The rooms booked for me were awesome! very spacious and comfortable. The amount of places visited with admission price waived was great, and seeing all these places while avoiding having to rent a car works for me :). I got to see Cliffs of Moher, Blarney Castle Kylemore Abbey and so many other photogenic stops! The guides were knowledgeable, good on ya, Terrance!
It got a bit hairy at the end, the bus was not going to stop at train station until others were dropped off first, and we had 15 minutes to catch a train back to Dublin. The driver did not like us speaking up, but we ended up being dropped off first, and just made our train
All in all, such a good experience if one is willing to stick to a schedule

I had already decided to use Do Dublin based on the reviews. Thanks to Ashlee from the Do Dublin team who responded to my questions explaining I needed to get off the Dart Line at Pearse Street Station. To my surprise the Do Dublin team were waiting outside Dun Laoghaire station offering a deal including the bus tour with the train ticket. They even showed us to the platform. We got off at Pearse Street, the bus stop is across the road from the station entrance. We only waited a few minutes and the Do Dublin bus arrived. The HOHO was everything we expected, a great mix of Irish songs, humour and information. Pearse Street station is well situated to the centre of Dublin if you get off the bus to explore Dublin on foot, I suggest you ask the staff at the station what train takes you back to Dun Laoghaire.

My experience with Rail Tours was absolutely amazing. I was so impressed with the amount of care and knowledge each tour guide had. As a first time solo traveler this experience was perfect for me and I felt so well taken care of each step of the way. All of the tour guides were so kind! John Todd really helped me out by taking pictures for me at the Cliffs of Moher so now I have great photos that captured the experience. I would highly recommend Rail Tours for people who want to experience as much of Ireland in a short time as they possibly can!

We were the last group to board McCombs' bus at Carrickfergus. Superior view seats were already occupied. Bus did not have panoramic windows which I would have expected on this coastal route. Disappointing to have very restricted view of coastline.

Did not visit Dunluce Castle as advertised.

I learnt interesting history about local fishermen's use of Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge when there. Sea-life is visible in the ocean below.

Lunch stop differed from advertised. Ours was called something like Londonderry Arms. Time allocated and rushed service was poor despite pre-ordering on-board.

Rock formations at Giant’s Causeway were stunning. Shuttle bus broke down and blocked the narrow road to all vehicles. Walked back to bus.

Arrived back in Belfast around 7pm taking the non-scenic route. No chance to see the coast again.

My included hotel, the Europa, was lovely.

First hop-on bus departs 10 am, thereafter every half hour. Despite pre-booking shuttle pick-up from hotel, the driver didn't stop. Representative surly when I complained. Titanic Museum was packed by the time I finally got there.

To conclude: Problems lay not with Railtours but with the companies they engage. Perhaps I struck a bad day. I would use Irish rail trains and Europa Hotel again. I wouldn’t bother with the bus tours offered. I would take a taxi to The Titanic Museum then a guided tour of the murals. I would also investigate car hire for The Giant’s Causeway or request panoramic windows when booking a bus tour.

Our guides were excellent Brian and Paddy. They were very informative. I learned so much about the Irish History.
Pro's: Pro's great way to see most of the country and learn about the history from a professional. Everything was included as far as tickets, hotels and breakfast. I enjoyed being with other travelers and we made lasting friendships.
Cons: We are on a schedule and so could not spend as much time as we wanted at some of the sights and venues. Lunch place was always predetermined so you were stuck going only to their choice. Most places were pretty good by average cost of the meals were 40-50 Euros per couple. It would have been nice to have a day off in the middle to rest a bit.

Overall it was a great way to see the country for the first time.

I would definitely recommend this tour. We had a family of 13 and they were very accommodating. The tour guide is witty and very knowledgeable of the history of Ireland. Paddy was very helpful and kind of last day. Of course the sights are amazing. The hotel accommodations were very nice. The international hotel in Killarney was great.

We had a lovely trip with our guide Terrance to the Ring of Kerry. Terrance was very knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed all the breathtaking sights. We stayed overnight in Killarney at the Killarney International Hotel and it was a highlight! Lunch on the trip was great & the waterfall was gorgeous! We would definitely recommend Rail Tours of Ireland to anyone who wants a unique experience without the crowds or “tourist” feeling!

Had an absolutely wonderful 2 day tour of the south just wished I’d booked the 3 day tour. It was a very informative tour with such beautiful scenery along the way. The guide Jonathan went out of his way to show me the true Irish night life and I had a ball. Fabulous tour highly recommend.
