It can't have been long after opening time and we were almost the only customers. We received a warm welcome from the lady behind the bar and it was noticeable that, as the bar filled up, the welcome everybody received was just as warm. Yes, it is obviously on the tourist trail but it is none the worse for that. Me and my wife came here a few times in our week in Dublin and this was hands-down the best nightlife spot in the Temple Bar area. O'Donoghue's has a lot of locals and regulars as well, and later on in the night on Fridays and Saturdays becomes a lively place with a little bit of dancing but is a friendly and clean atmosphere, without being too crowded.
The live musicians were easily the most talented we had seen in the area, able to pull off music from a wide range of genres while keeping things engaged and fun.

Had some musicians playing, not tourist capturing stuff, just proper Irish music played by what looked like a few musicians who turned up. On all the occasions that we were there it was packed and everyone was friendly and having a great time singing along and dancing. A real gem of a pub, full of history and a great authentic atmosphere. We visited on a recommendation and so glad we did. Will be our first port of call when we are next in Dublin again. The atmosphere is just great, only downside is that they didn't take bookings so there might be a bit of waiting to get a table.
