Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- mhaurlklCambridge, Canada385 contributionsSomewhat an obligatory stop, but worth the short drive from Cork. Very well kept gardens and grounds. A nice leisurely stroll to the castle and some interesting historic plaques along the way. The castle itself is well kept and interesting in its own right. Make sure you are trim to get up the spiral stairs the level with the spot to kiss.
Over all worth the hype.Written 4 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. In the market, there are a.lot.of food shops, where you can buy almost all you want. Also, there are some bars and restaurants, where you can eat fresh products from the market. In fact, we visited the market at the early morning and we.could breakfast in Farmgate restaurant an Irish breakfast, which was very good. Also, we returned here in the evening to buy some products to have dinner (cured meat, smoked salmon, marinated sardine and some bread) in our accommodation and it was excellent!

- AlbertSalichsManresa, Spain22,459 contributionsUniversity College Cork is the main building of the university of this city, the second largest one in the country. You can walk around all university campus and enter to the main building, while there are a lot of students. It is a very nice place to walk, relax and a very good zone for students. Pitifully, we had not time and we could not visit the main building, only see it from outside. Next time.

- Rachel FasuloThomaston, CT132 contributionsThe Blarney Stone castle grounds were so much fun to explore. They have ice cream and so many things to tour! We started with the castle, followed by the "poison garden", and then the family home. The history of all of it was so interesting to learn and we had SO much fun! Oh, and everyone says not to kiss the stone because the locals pee on it- up to you whether you do it or not! - AlbertSalichsManresa, Spain22,459 contributionsSt Fin Batre's Cathedral is the most important religious building in Cork, the second largest city in Ireland. It is an angelical cathedral, which was built in the 18th Century, where previously there was another cathedral. This new cathedral was built in a gothic style. It is a very impressive building, which you can see from afar. We could enter and see the main hall, which was very beautiful. Very interesting place.Written 29 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ruby RCork, Ireland4 contributionsAmazing and beautiful Park. But as always, completely insufficient parking provided by local council who have given it Zero thought.Written 5 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Amanda D4 contributionsLoved the castle. Loved the tour (be prepared for 100 spiral stairs!..you have been warned!) and learning of the history. But the astronomy talk was my favourite! The guide was clearly super interested in her subject matter and was engageable with the kids. A great and unique way to learn about Cork!Written 22 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BraindamagedbaronNewark-on-Trent, UK1,475 contributionsArguably the heart of Cork's retail heart. An ideal place to find all of your High Street needs from budget right up to higher end fair. And dotted around are numerous cafes and eateries giving you ample opportunity for refreshments.
Something for everyone as you meander through the side streets and find your way around.

It was built in the 18th Century and nowadays it has a tower, which you can go up and see very nice views of the surroundings. Also, you can see the bell of the tower and visit the inner part of this little church. Very nice place, especially for the lookout.Written 29 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Geoffrey SNorwich, United Kingdom8 contributionsAn amazing large fort with multiple places of interest including the various gun batteries; the Victorian Submarine Mining and Brennan Torpedo areas; the many barrack rooms with great exhibits, including reconstructed victorian and 20th Century barrack rooms.
The cafe was rather underused and should be better known to visitors.
All of the staff were very welcoming and many were volunteers so the opportunity to volunteer and work at this surprisingly large fort, helping to restore and maintain areas of interest and perhaps help with telling its story would be a great experience.Written 23 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a very interesting museum, where you can learn a lot about the industry of butter in Ireland, his history and why Cork is a very important port in Ireland (in fact, the port is located in Cobh, near Cork). Really, here you can read about why butter is a very important food in Ireland and how Ireland was the main country to export this food.Written 29 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anara O1 contributionCute place for snacks, food is not that good though. We all tried different things: corean, burger and hotdogs and nothing was really good.Written 14 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael MVancouver, Canada3,542 contributionsIn 1601 the fortress was built and many historical events took place here , including the fort being demolished in 1603 and rebuilt in stone in 1624-26..For me an important function of the Fort was during the Great Famine where it was used as a food depot to deal with the widespread starvation..walking along the walls, reading the historical events and seeing the City Of Cork along the walls is quite special..take the time to read the plaques which are placed throughout the fort..Written 2 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
