The tour itself was wonderful. Guide was informative and included a lot of history, while being quiet enough in the early morning to allow us to relax and nap on the bus. Day one was Jam packed, and I wish we would have had a little longer as the Q at Blarney castle was 90 minutes and we were given only two hours. Not willing to waste our time there in line, we opted to explore the grounds instead and missed our chance at the Blarney Stone.
Now, for the accommodation. The upgrade to a standard accommodation (rather than hostel) is a B&B which is old but clean and hospitable. (Acorn Inn). The tour company does not provide the name of the hotel nor do they share that it is a ten minute walk up a steep hill (I was towing 70 lbs worth of luggage). Had I known, I would have simply ordered a cab. While the driver offered to carry my luggage, he was older than I so I certainly didn’t feel comfortable with that!
The tour leaves from a spot in Dublin around the corner from the Paddywagon office. Tickets were not clear and the spot was not marked. Buses were obvious but no sign as to which bus was for which tour. No sign or person to indicate the need to check in at the office. Very disorganized.
