Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- JSSAmberCambridge, UK684 contributionsFor me, there's about an hour and a half of good painting-gazing in me at any time before I can't absorb any more, and this museum just exceeds that. You could return and get more out of it, but it's designed to give you a complete experience in 90 minutes, with global and national masterpieces.Written 8 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MarkSheffield, UK725 contributionsThere is a mix on display, it is a visit for the hardened art fan but there are a good selection of styles and well known names on show, so something for everyone. Not the most extensive collection and an hour or so will capture most things on show.Written 8 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - artdeco61Lincolnshire195 contributionsThe window art attracted us inside and what a wonderful warm welcome we received. This small gallery has lots of exciting work and sculpture wonderfully displayed. The owner is a beautiful lady with so much knowledge of current art works. The displays are very good and the work is exciting and different. We had a great time looking at and hearing about the artists work. Thank you so much for your time and showing us such interesting pieces. Do wish you every success in your venture. Wonderful art galley. We will visit again next time we get back to edinburgh. - Africa TouristSydney, Australia9,293 contributionsWhile the crown jewels are the highlight of this exhibition there is much history about the Scottish monarchy, their lineage and conflict as well as the room where Mary Queen of Scots gave birth and other rooms recreated from the past.

The interior really is something to behold: huge staircases, pillars, plasterwork, paintings, cornices, oak wood panelling, and all in the best possible taste. I have attended this venue for a conference and it was perfect; more recently my daughter and her husband chose to use the Royal College as their wedding venue. It was the perfect location for a grand wedding. They married in the library, and we we dined and later partied in the main hall. Perfect, just perfect.Written 1 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
