Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Heidi L7 contributionsA must visit while in Edinburgh. We visited in on a Friday in January which seems to be a good time to visit as it wasn’t too crowded and we felt we got to see everything properly. I booked our tickets online as we stood outside the castle and we were able to go straight in. Adult tickets are just under £20 which I though was really good value and there are loads of exhibitions and exhibits to see dotted around the castle itself, the highlight being the Scottish Crown Jewels, the military museum and the views across Edinburgh. All staff were friendly, we really enjoyed our visitWritten 20 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dexporterPoulton Le Fylde, UK245 contributionsWe visited around 10.15 on a Thursday and it was very quiet. The audio tour was extremely informative, and could be paused at any time to allow you to browse at your leisure.
We took about 1 1/2 hours and really enjoyed it.
The tram stops right in front of the attraction, very handy, and plenty of toilets were available on board.
A few stairs to navigate, but not too onerous.Written 23 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The old town area did have a large number of tourists but you could still get a feel for the city history and appreciate the area.Written 18 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Liz CSydney, Australia8 contributionsI booked this as I thought my son (who is neurodivergent) might like it. We both loved it! Most of the exhibits are interactive and there is so much to see and do. The staff were very helpful and accommodating but there are some exhibits that might be challenging for anyone who has seizures. Having said that, there is still a lot to see and do. Would go back if I could.Written 18 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- R WDubai, United Arab Emirates356 contributionsWe were looking for a good Indian restaurant on the Royal Mole in Edinburg and found this gem near the Starbucks across from the Radisson on the mile. Excellent service and great food. The dal tadka and veg samosas were divine. My wife enjoyed the mutton biryani. For south Asians in Edinburgh, you have a great watering hole on the mile.Written 15 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - steliana t9 contributionsThe palace was beautiful although I think for the price it is not worth it. I found it quite expensive. It is a nice place though to spend some hours there.Written 15 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chill_Factor_10Manchester39 contributionsStunning architecture and really beautiful inside. Lots of history - John Knox, writers corner, royal connections etc - and a good interactive display where you can learn more about now the building evolved over time. Dog friendly as well, which feels weird for a church but was actually quite nice.Written 11 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Hidden Gem in the Heart of Edinburgh!
I stumbled upon Dean's Village while exploring Edinburgh, and it's a treasure I'll never forget! This charming village is nestled in a tranquil valley, just a stone's throw from the city center.
The village's cobblestone streets, quaint shops, and picturesque cottages transported me to a bygone era. The atmosphere is peaceful and serene, making it an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Be sure to visit the stunning Dean Village Bridge, which offers breathtaking views of the Water of Leith. Take a leisurely walk along the river, explore the village's nooks and crannies, and discover its rich history.
Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or simply looking for a unique experience, Dean's Village is a must-visit destination in Edinburgh.
Tips:
- Take your time exploring the village's narrow streets and alleys.
- Visit the Dean Village Bridge for spectacular views.
- Look out for the village's charming shops, cafes, and restaurants.
- Take a stroll along the Water of Leith for a peaceful retreat.Written 18 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PandamedicLichfield, UK5,936 contributionsWe saw this monument whilst walking back to the train station. It's pretty centrally located next to the park. Looked great when it started to get dark as it's lit up.
You can actually go inside and up it, but as we had our dog we didn't part take in this little expereince.Written 5 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AlyG280West Lothian, UK46 contributionsAbsolutely brilliant experience start to finish. Bob & Catherine were super friendly and knowledgeable. The walk was brilliant fun and getting to feed the pack afterwards didn’t feel rushed or a bother. Would definitely visit again!
