Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Been here a few times with my now 8 year old but not for a few years but took him again last weekend.
Wonderful gardens and woods with beautiful displays, the little rivers and rockeries with steps up them are lovely.
Lots to see and the cafe next to the big county house has the best cakes ever!

A really nice friendly market to visit. Good family friendly vibe. Great coffee at the first stall. Lots of nice home made and individual stuff to buy.

This is a lovely gallery for fine art and weaving. Check the times so you can go to the gallery and observe the weavers at work and do stop at the art gallery. We were there in late September for the Scottish Women Artists exhibition which is super and continues until early January I believe.

Not a large market but has a good range of businesses & products, lovely location next to the castle and well arranged. Certainly worth a visit for both locals & tourists.

All aspects of the tour were fantastic. Rockie our guide was so passionate about his subject and really involved the group in the tour experience. Congratulations to all involved with Port of Leith Distillery a magical experience in a magical location.

Very cool venue for a craft market. Hand-made goods that stand out from the rest of the tourist junk. Nothing I had to have, though. Lots of the gifts were ultra-girly and what I call "Crayola colors," while my taste is more earthy and understated.

I dearly wish that the Edinburgh City Art put on a Celtic Revival Exhibition, especially a retrospective on John Duncan, one of Edinburgh's greatest artists.

There's three or four of John Duncan's paintings in the City Arts Centre. He brings such beautiful colour and detail to the canvas to bring a wonderful portrayal of Celtic folklore. You can see he was influenced by the pre-Raphaelites especially Rossetti and Italian art frescos.

The arts centre has the superb Tristan & Isolde the classic mythical Romeo & Juliet tale of forlorn love. They hold the love potion that will make them love each other for eternity, but it was not to be, Isolde is betrothed to King Mark of Cornwall. Tristan is taking Isolde on a ship from Ireland to Cornwall for her wedding. Their tale more or less ends like Romeo & Juliet.

Go across to the Scottish National Gallery and see Duncan's magnificent Saint Bride. At first glance I did not see Saint Bride, I just was mesmerised by the two angels. The designs on their cloaks details Christ's story. Wonderful.

It's the same as any leisure park - you've got a Maccie Ds, a Curry's, a TK Macks, a few coffee shops, FiveGuys, and that sort of thing.

However as they go, it looks rather nice with some gorgeous wood panelling decoration above most of the shops.

And indeed most of the shops have lovely staff and look clean and well kept.

However avoid the Starbucks. Messy and extremely slow service. It just had a feeling of 'CBA' - for example the sliding doors were broken but why bother fixing it when you're at one of your busiest times of the year?

    Sigh.

I stumbled upon The Red Door Gallery on a work trip, and essentially wanted to buy everything in the shop. I was looking for a new coffee mug for my wife and had looked high and low when I found just the right one at Red Door. Unfortunately, the size I wanted was out of stock so they put me on a waiting list. Then when I got home, they emailed me and created a listing just for me on their website so I would be sure to get the mug I wanted. The level of curation of pieces and attention to service is really excellent. Thank you again Sarah and everyone at Red Door!

Such an eclectic curation of artists in so many media meant we were glad we’d allowed enough time. Well worth a visit if your anywhere near Portobello.

A wonderful way to spend a couple of hours away from the crowds. The staff there are charming, helpful and enthusiastic, the work is diverse, interesting and much of it affordable and the vegan cafe, ah the vegan cafe.... A beautiful woman brought me the MOST divine dairy and gluten free sponge I have ever tasted, the coffee was excellent, the room light and airy. The whole thing couldn't have been a more enjoyable experience. Highly, highly recommend.

Lovely little farmer's market in the centre of Leith on a Saturday. Worth it to have a little wonder about and see if there's anything you'd like.

Stills is a lovely gallery on Cockburn Street. I visited to see my son’s exhibition. Everyone I met there was very welcoming and the director, Ben explained how the exhibits had been selected. I could have spent hours in there and it was good to hear that the exhibition had been ‘hugely popular’.

First visit to Talbot Rice hidden away in the midst of Edinburgh university x Really enjoyed the exciting and unusual art work, installations and film, the beautiful gallery and staircases. Staff were warm and welcoming as we've found in all our art gallery visit this week. Be aware a lot of steep stairs but there is lift access for disabled visitors.
