Fab tour! Steve was so friendly and knowledgable throughout. The tour was very accommodating and the personal angle of names and places was really good. Ear pieces provided were brilliant to be able to hear information throughout which meant you didn’t miss out whilst walking from stop to stop. Thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a lot! Highly recommend.
Both guides were informative and engaging, sharing insights from their personal experiences. It gave us a better understanding of the recent history and the impact it still has today on different communities.
Our guide was lovely and knowledgeable. He was very understanding and accomodating that we had two small children with us who weren’t always interested as we were. I would highly recommend.
A lovely way to explore Belfast. Trevor was full of local knowledge and enthusiasm and we got to eat and drink lots of different things along the way. We will definitely consider walking food tours for future city breaks.
It is hard to believe that you can live in a city most of your life and miss so much! This was a thoroughly enjoyable and interesting tour given by a very well prepared and knowledgeable guide called Steve. I would have no hesitation in recommending this experience with Steve to visitors and citizens alike. Thank you for the tour and craic! Oonagh
Marti is an amazing guide who knows a lot about Belfast. I had a great time and came away with lots of ideas about places to explore. Checked out some fabulous street art and also some great pubs and places to eat. Highly recommended!
A really excellent tour. Barney is an excellent guide. I lived in Belfast for 30 years, still work there and still learnt do much. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole time with him. Will do it again.
I spent the day with Marti doing a double day of tours. I’ll start by saying I’ve done many tours in many cities in many parts of the world, and can definitively say that Marti is the most knowledgeable tour guide of his city that I have ever had. Hands down. I was amazed that after 7 hours he still had plenty of new knowledge and there was zero overlap between tours (& he offers additional tours to those I took). As a professor and closet historian I am always looking for deeper knowledge and Marti did not disappoint. He clearly has a passion for his subject and has spent a lifetime preparing to give you your next tour. I’m no stranger to Belfast having visited many times and taken a variety of tours, including but not limited to the political tours. Marti’s tour tied so many ends together and provided such a rich context and new perspectives to help provide a deeper meaning. He takes the time to explain the people and meanings in the political and non-political murals and understands the deeper purpose they serve much more thoroughly than any of the previous political tours I’ve taken (at least 6, given my interest in the topic and my fathers leaving Belfast for America in 1968). He’s aware of the past, the present and efforts being made to reach forward and drag the future of Belfast into the present. The thing that differentiates Marti’s tour from other political tours is his optimistic view of the future and the explicit examples he provides about how people are working together across communities to build bridges and inspire hope. He doesn’t withhold or smooth over the past, but this man lives in the future. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!
The most unique tour we’ve ever been on. Marti was incredibly knowledgeable and showed us so much art I feel like we will be reflecting on & digesting all the information for a long time.
The music portion of the tour was less than the street art but we briefly saw one trad/folk group & a drummer/singer duo. Marti also pointed out lots more bars & walked us through a number of other places he recommended.
If you want a small group tour that’s lead by someone that is unique & clearly passionate about the arts, this is the tour for you.
Highly recommend! Barry, our driver/guide was awesome, a walking passionate encyclopedia of Irish history. We got a full 2 hours worth of college lecture. As an American, I only knew a little about the Troubles and was way short on the history, background and gritty details. (Americans don't know much about Cromwell - I do now!). The whole thing is complex and confusing. Seeing the murals, gates and walls is an eyeopener. Jim and Diana - from Iowa, USA
I took the Belfast Punk Music Walking Tour-can't recommend it enough. You don't need to know anything about Belfast's music scene but I went in with some background and still got tons of great info& learned so much because the tour was given by someone who was there-the lovely Delores-who not only uses her personal insight and connections to enrich the tour but plenty of research as well. The walking is easy (I have a bad knee that didn't play up at all), well-paced and we stopped to rest for a drink, a break& convo. Dolores creates a great environment so this was an absolute pleasure rather than a pause in action. You get a look in to the history but also the present state of Belfast's collectives& music scenes. You get a sense of the city itself-how it looked then, what used to be and what's taking shape/being built up now. Many of the stops we made were at places I immediately put on my list to revisit; 2.5 hrs flew by. Music was played, bands were referenced and we were given cards with Spotify lists so we could keep listening. Will definitely take others on this tour, keep recommending and hope to take another tour with Creative Tours Belfast next time I'm town:)
What a fascinating tour - Barry is a hoot! He has a wealth of knowledge and answers all questions that we posed. The morning flew by and Barry generously extended our time as the conversation kept flowing. We thoroughly recommend this tour as a must do when in Belfast.
A fantastic morning spent with Steven. My mother & I had a lovely walking tour around Belfast dock learning the history of Titanic, Olympic & how/where they were built. I really enjoyed visiting HMS Caroline, the last remaining ship from the WW1 Battle of Jutland. We both aim to visit the original Harland & Wolff headquarters again. Steven brought us around the now restored to original style room where the Titanic was designed. The headquarters is just beautiful to have a coffee is, hours could be spent reading all the bits displayed through. Thank you so much Steven for being so informative & friendly. We throughly enjoyed ourselves. I fully recommend this walking tour.
