What travellers are saying
- Cristi CBurnaby, Canada195 contributionsExcellent experience for train lovers and not only.
Exquisite preservation of cars and engines.
It's like a time traveling and it's so enjoyable.
I recommend it while visiting York.Written 12 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Temac1970Melbourne, Australia235 contributionsThe real Diagon alley! Rebuilt in 1400 AD! As well as the historical aspect, the Shambles has a real Harry Potter aesthetic (which many shops cash in on) but is absolutely worth a wander. Many York attractions are in easy walking distance from one another anyway so its definitely worth a 5 to 10 minute walk to see this. Some nice restaurants and cafes nearby too.Written 15 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- kiterunner55Portland, OR46 contributionsEvensong was beautiful. Excellent voices blended perfectly and filled a space that truly sounded as if it was created for this purpose. The conductor was appropriately lively and interacted perfectly with his choir. Highly recommended for those who appreciate a rich robust sound.Written 14 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Y Y T27 contributionsWe went as a family of 6 including an infant, toddler and adults, and had an enjoyable time. I was apprehensive given the ages of the little ones but our guide was lovely and we felt very welcome. Baby was asleep in the carrier (would recommend this over navigating a pushchair, even though it was allowed and accessible) and toddler kept entertained by audio visual elements as well as constant stream of chocolate. The tour covered history of chocolate in York as well as chocolate making processes. Good group size. Lolly making was undoubtedly the highlight as others have mentioned (side note-they had hand sanitiser and reminders about hygiene but I felt covered dispensers for toppings would be ideal). We made use of the National Rail 1 for 1 attraction promotion and thought it was excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend!Written 14 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- CharleyWellsGrimsby, UK57 contributionsVisited York Maze, as we do every year, and it was as fabulous as ever.
Lots of the usual activities, the main maze, which is great, bouncing pillow, sandpit and slides. Our favourite is the Crow ride, very funny guide in Josh too!
Lots of places to picnic, and you can even take your dog!
The loaded popcorn was a big hit and delicious!
We all had a great time and will be back next year.
Great gift shop on the way out too :)Written 8 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Weymouth1953Weymouth, UK320 contributionsIts half term and the weather isn't great. After some discussion we chose the Museum for a 6 year old and a 2 year old to visit. We met a lovely lady on reception, who also did the teas and coffees and looked after the gift shop. The museum was a great choice as there was so much for them to see and do, the training module was a real hit with both of them and the fact that you could sit in some of the models was also well received. We went round several times as there was different thingf for each of our grandchildren to see. We would defintely go back.Written 9 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Colin DBelmont, Australia89 contributionsWe visited the Centre with my 89yo mother in law and had a great time. The team that look after the birds do a great job and our Geordie Guide provided an excellent experience combining extensive knowledge with humour that engages the audience.Written 12 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - profjoypcAlnwick, UK4,563 contributionsWe very much enjoyed our day here. We came for the grounds and gardens and had a lovely time appreciating the plants, trees and water features. It is a grand, elegant estate and you get superb views of the house from the grounds. Well worth a visit for an extremely pleasnt walk.Written 25 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sherpa7796561 contributionGreat place for young ones aged 4 & 7 plenty to do spent a full day there, just wish it had been made clearer earlier in the booking process that you couldn't bring your own food in although plenty did & nothing was said. Not a problem as the food to purchase was reasonable and looked great just wish we had known before our picnic was packed up.Written 3 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
