Buckingham Palace is truly a sight to behold! The architecture is stunning, and the Changing of the Guard ceremony is a must-see. The surrounding gardens are beautifully maintained, perfect for a leisurely stroll. A memorable visit that combines history, culture, and charm. Highly recommend!

There is no better way to see this magnificent historical site than experiencing a brief service with the Westminster Choir. The historical and architectural elegance is enhanced by the oral and chiral notes. Before going confirm dates of the service as they do not occur every day. No need to be there too early in November as there is plenty of seating and admission is permitted during the service. Line up by the entrance near the gift shop and tell the gatekeeper you are there for Evensong.

Walking through the underground chambers gave us a real sense of history. We were captivated by the stories and artifacts. It can feel a bit cramped with crowds, but the experience is truly unique. A must-visit for history lovers looking to dive into wartime Britain!

Cant recommend this tour highly enough. It is exciting to actually go up this tower to see the workings as well as to see and hear Big Ben chime. We even walked round inside of the clock faces. The steps are not hard if you are reasonably fit and active
( we both retired a long time ago) and there are stops along the way where you sit down to hear about the tower. Gillian is a great guide - giving us good info in an entertaining way, keeping us all interested. Once booked, you will get good advice about the trip nearer the time. You need to book well in advance but it is a brilliant trip. Takes nearly 2 hours but the time flies.

We were part of 20 pax tour, with Mr. Nick (the last name starting with R), greyhaired, glasses wearing man, an ABSOLUTE GOLD! Smart, knowledgable, funny, amazing guide. Working there for 5 years. We had a great time!

One of London's Little-known joys is that the wild birds in the central Royal Parks are willing to fly down and take food from people. There is a brilliant feeding area in St James's Park on the south side, only two minutes walk from the tube station. Take some suitable food with you and you will make a lot of new friends. ❤️

One of iconic landmark and most famous things of London are located in Westminster Square. After long time of renovation period, finally Bigben is out of scaffolding. Definitely you can’t say you visit London without visiting Bigben. Worth a visit from outside Westminster if you don't wanna visit inside which is more interesting but make sure you booked in advance as it goes out quickly.
Location is perfect at the edge of River Thames and surrounding by other iconic features all around like London Eye, Westminster Abbey and many more.
Best time to walk around is at sunset and evening time is magical. Beautiful views and best spot for superb photos in London City from the Westminster Bridge.

A gem in the middle on London. A really beautiful building full of history. The ceilings are extraordinary and the general architecture is stunning. Well worth a visit. No entry fee, just be quiet and respectful as it is still a functioning Catholic Church.

This area of the Palace is the central hub of transportation whether that be by horse, carriage or car and has responsibility for all livery and harness.
There are many fine examples of state coaches to view and photograph including the Town Coach, Queen Alexandra’s State Coach, the Glass Carriage and the Diamond Jubilee Coach. There are information boards on each so you can learn more about their origins etc.

The piece de resistance of the carriage display, however, has to be the Gold State Coach which is displayed in it's own separate cavernous space to allow visitors to view it as if in action complete with horses and grooms.

The exhibition also includes information about the horses, groomsmen, tack etc

We enjoyed it and felt it was worth the visit

as of July 1, 2024, the Rules for Horse Guards has seen some changes in that touching the Horses (or the troopers) is NO LONGER ALLOWED - and crowding the horse while taking a picture may result in being told to get back! Do not attempt to feed the horses which may result in the trooper saying or shaking their head No. The Military of Defense Police (MoD) have increased in numbers, tighter crowd controls, and will remove disrespectful tourists. It remains a 'free' visit and a visit to the Horse Guards Museum (for a small fee) is a Must!

Went to see Hamilton on 2/1/25. Show was great. We sat in the Victoria box on the right side. Nobody behind us, individual chairs we could move about and loads of legroom but no waiter service.
Bar staff very friendly and could pre order drinks for the break.
The only problem we had was it was freezing the whole way through the show, my 74 year old mum sat with her hat and gloves and they brought her a blanket but she was still freezing. Loads of people complaining about how cold it was but they couldn’t heat it up.

On this occasion we purchased a combined ticket to view the King's Gallery, The Royal Mews and the State Rooms inside the palace itself. I have reviewed the other sections separately.

As stated on the website "For centuries, portraiture has played a vital role in shaping the public’s perception of the Royal Family. This exhibition charts the evolution of royal portrait photography from the 1920s to the present day, bringing together more than 150 photographic prints, proofs and documents from the Royal Collection and the Royal Archives."

In my opinion they delivered on this description with the portraits displayed in date order but this isn’t a particularly large exhibition and photography is not allowed.
You can view portraits taken by Cecil Beaton, Annie Leibovitz, Norman Parkinson, Mario Testino and Hugh Burnand to name but a few.
There are also explanations throughout detailing how photography has evolved through the last century.

My personal favourite was the last Royal photo taken of Princess Diana, before her untimely death, which was taken by Mario Testino.

Just past Horse Guards Parade you will find yourself on The Mall - a ceremonial and processional route dedicated to Queen Victoria.

The origins of the route, which is in fact less than a mile long, can actually be traced back to King Charles II, who ordered the redesign of St James Park (which today borders The Mall) to include a long flat part on which could be played the game of Pelle Melle - which I understand to be a form of Croquet.

Over time the exact positioning of the park of changed and altered, and the long flat space became known as The Mall - with Mall presumably being an alteration of Melle.

Move on nearly 200 years and The Mall is being imagined as a smart, ceremonial route, and so the Victorian's set about turning it into what we see and use today. In addition to this, they also erected the Victoria Memorial to be the focal point at the end of the route.

Move on a further 100 years or so into the 1950s, and the surface of the Mall was coloured red using synthetic iron oxide pigment, giving the whole road the look of one long red carpet. This is quite apt, as today The Mall plays a key role in Royal ceremonies and events such as State Visits, Royal weddings and funerals and, in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's case, a whole host of Jubilee celebrations.

The route is closed to traffic on Sundays, public and bank holidays and obviously for the aforementioned ceremonial events. Busses cannot use it at all without special authority from the Monarch.

My wife and I walked down it for a fair way before a police officer on a bicycle rode up and told everyone to get on the pavement. I'm.sure they had their reasons for that, but I fear I shall never know what they were.

If you're in the vicinity I would urge you to visit The Mall.

Its beauty and cleanliness is breathtaking. It’s a lovely place to take photos or sit and eat a cookie. I enjoyed people watching and observing all the different vehicles coming and going!
