Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- SeattleCoventry, UK180 contributionsChelsea Physic Garden was a serene oasis in the bustling city of London. The beautifully maintained gardens featured a wide variety of medicinal plants and exotic flora, providing a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life. The knowledgeable guides were more than happy to share their expertise and answer any questions about the plants and their medicinal uses. The garden's rich history and connection to the Royal Horticultural Society made it even more special. A perfect spot for nature lovers and botany enthusiasts.I bought a railcard on trainpal and got a 20% discount when I entered the RC777E code! Hope to help those who come to the UK to play~Written 9 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- NoraatcSudbury, MA40,642 contributionsI never expected Saatchi gallery to be so interesting. It is not for everyone, those who don’t like modern paintings can easily skip it, but I was greatly impressed by the variety of styles, themes and bright invigorating color palette of some painters. The real revelation was the Room with the View exhibit on the second floor. The works of Aida Mahmudova are really out of the ordinary: her technique is placing natural materials (tree branches, dry leaves, various minerals, like blue and white quartz, in beautiful whimsical displays of different moods and emotions. - A Midlife AdventureDursley, UK2,872 contributionsMixed feelings. We arrived at about 1230 and stayed until 730 pm. Having never been before I wasn’t sure what to expect.
Negatives:
The crowds are definitely a big issue. It was like stepping into an army of ants on the march, go with the flow or enter a battle!
The food outlets were predominantly over priced (£10-£15 for two coffees and one cake!!) and if you brought a picnic with you there was nowhere to eat it as the designated area had flooded on the first two days
Complete lack of seating areas. Personally I think the RHS could sacrifice some of the shopping outlets in favour of customer comfort
The show gardens, which was one of the main attractions for me, are really hard to view and appreciate as again there are so many people all trying to view the same thing. Additionally even when you do manage to hit the front you cannot photograph any garden in its entirety because of the rope barriers in your way. It means you have to sort of work your way around each garden which needless to say this takes time!
Gardening enthusiasts join the RHS and I have to say the benefits are fantastic but this seemed to be almost constructed solely for the upper classes. Us everyday folk, looking at the reviews, may never return
Positives:
The Great Pavilion was magnificent. The chosen vendors were knowledgeable, friendly and more than helpful throughout and there were some lovely displays etc
The balcony/ container garden area added another dimension to the show
The brochure being available in advance was useful to plan our day, as beginners to the show although I do agree that £15 is a little steep!Written 11 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Still feels lived-in and would be an attractive proposition to do so! Many original furnishings add to its appeal.
Greeted on pulling the door bell (an unusual experience!) by knowledgeable volunteers who, after an interesting introduction, leave you to wander through the house and garden at your own pace without being forced to stand and listen to lengthy discourses as in so many other properties with supervised access. Each room is immaculately kept and descriptive signage is excellent and informative. Somewhat dark inside in places. The must see is the attic room where Thomas Carlyle wrote using the light from the sunroof.
Only open for 5 hours on Wednesdays in the summer by timed admission that can only be booked a maximum 2 weeks in advance. Presumably there are reasons why the National Trust do this but it makes visiting somewhat difficult for all but the most determined. The upside is that you have an experience free of crowds to allow you to take in what you are seeing in an unhurried manner. The admission price is also reasonable compared with many other locations.
Don't miss the statue of Thomas Carlyle near Chelsea Embankment opposite the end of Cheyne Walk.
If you have to drive there, finding parking within reasonable distance is also a real problem and we had to abandon an attempt to visit the previous year because of that and write-off our non-refundable admission fees that have to be paid in advance. If coming by car, build in a significant time margin to allow for this, as we did on our second successful attempt.Written 26 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sunshine6676 contributionsBrought my mum and my autie son to see this exhibition. Enjoyed it very much. Would have liked to have seen more but the way it was laid out meant I could take through the exhibits with my son and ensure he could see them all. He was impressed and learned a lot. - gfsc5Perth, Australia1,813 contributionsThis is a department store that plays with convention. There aren't many such stores I know of where one is greeted by bedding and the odd bbq on the entrance floor. And having menswear adjacent to perfumes and makeup. Most intriguing.
I spent time in the menswear area. Some nice stuff but not a massive range from which to choose.
My wife is an avid shopper but finished womenswear in record time.
