What travellers are saying
- Paul W2 contributionsLords tour and dinning experience in the players dinning room, what a fantastic 3 hours for any cricket lover, and even those with little cricket interest. Very knowledgeable guide who took the tour around all parts of the ground, including The Long Room, players dressing rooms, media centre, scorers box and inside the Museum. The food served in the players dinning room was excellent, 3 courses plus wine, beer or soft drinks.
Couldn't recommend this day out enough.Written 12 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - pildyboysOssett, UK702 contributionsWe had a great day here. The tour was very interesting showing all the courts and getting close up to centre court. We spent a long time in the museum as well. The gift shop is a bit expensive but arn’t they all! Overall a good day out. Well worth the money. Ww visited in 2019 just prior to the pandemic. Just I cannot go back that for to review.Written 16 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Marion MNyon District, Switzerland416 contributionsA playground with a difference. Not only the usual swings slides etc, but a huge pirate ship to clamber on, tipees to play inside, areas to "play" music, and of course enormous sandpits. A must visit for the kidsWritten 26 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Raphaël Le BougeantLondon, UK1 contributionFantastic club, beautiful atmosphere at craven cottage I recommend everyone to attend at least a game in their lifetime. Classic, culturally rich stadium.Written 24 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Christiano M1 contributionWill review the poker room since that's what I know:
Pros: floor staff are great, dealers are often excellent (nice combination of speedy and chatty, which is exactly what you want, big shout out to Amit, Gia, & Slavek), food is very solid (double chicken w/ egg fried rice exactly what you want at 1 in the morning in a long session). Games are excellent, loads of fun players who are great to chat to and play with, often a nice relaxed vibe with lots of entertaining chat amongst the poker. Of course you get more serious tables as well but so often playing here is just a great social experience. After over 100 hours I can say I've never had a miserable night, there's always been a chill and relaxed vibe amongst both regs and recreationals.
Some suggestions for improvement, all meant with love & affection:
1) For god's sake please make sure the playlist is good, absolutely no one wants to listen to the same godawful thirty noughties pop hits over and over again. They weren't good the first time. Have a nice wide range of banging songs from all eras of pop. If management just goes around the regs and asks them to submit their top 10 favourite songs each we'll very likely get a good playlist that would at least be infinitely better than the current garbage.
2) Allow one bomb pot every dealer change (as is now standard in Vegas) and allow players to play the 7-2 game if we want to. This stupid rigmarole of having to sweet-talk the dealers into letting us play the side-bet games while hoping the floor looks the other way needs to go away. These games drive action, and recreational players often actively want to play them because they've seen them on all the major poker shows like High Stakes Poker or whatever. The only rationale for banning them is that they make for bigger pots which means weaker players lose money faster, and so pay less rake. But it's so terrible for the wider Hippodrome brand to be the casino that bans fun. Within reason, fun side-games should be permitted if all the players agree.
3) Offer a slightly wider variety of games, even if only occasionally on a pre-announced schedule. Friday nights could have one Short Deck table, Saturday nights a 4-card PLO table (why on earth this 6-card PLO game sometimes runs I have no idea, I think regular PLO would appeal to far more people since they've actually played it before and you can bluff in a lot more spots!). On the hold'em front, busy nights should IMO have a 1/2/5 table where straddling is banned (essentially 1/2 with a mandatory straddle). This would be great bridge between 1/2 and 2/5, and three-blind games are more fun anyway and becoming increasingly popular. Either way, the room would definitely benefit from a game that plays a bit bigger than most 1/2 tables do, but still doesn't play quite as big as 2/5. A dedicated deepstack 1/2 table with a maximum £1k or £750 buyin would be another way to achieve this.Written 23 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Martin BWakefield, UK76 contributionsLove the ground . Friendly atmosphere . Compact ground . Facilities were a little dated but it was like going back to the days of proper football grounds.Written 30 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- SophtravelsLondon, UK66 contributionsThis climbing centre is great! There are plenty of good bouldering walls for all abilities and there are never ending rooms. You can also climb outside in a really pretty setting. Staff weren’t particularly friendly but other than that, a great experience!Written 15 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- NidgehammerStevenage, UK4,772 contributionsFirst time back here for about 5 years but have been coming here to watch West Ham since the early 80’s, about 10 visits or so.
It’s an old school ground despite having at least two new stands since I first came and has a good atmosphere if not a bit “happy-clappy” home fans.
Slightly restricted view right in the corner about 20 rows back but I enjoyed being at a proper football ground rather than our 60,000 filled soul-less bowl. Not much room behind the away stand and facilities are pretty grim but I guess that’s part of the experience.
It’s a nightmare to get to if you’re from north of the river but I’ll keep coming back to remember what old grounds are like.Written 28 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - EmilyLondon, UK191 contributionsNice gardens, well kept & free to enter, plenty of benches for a picnic. House was small, a few interesting items to see and an interesting history. Free entry with English Heritage Membership.Written 7 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- PiterUnited Kingdom3 contributionsWere here with friends and couples like 3 weeks ago) Not so bad. The casino is certainly not on the same scale as the Hippodrome, but one thing I can say for sure: it's very cozyWritten 28 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Perimal82London, UK4 contributionsExperience is very good and all of the staff from the front desk to the bar staff, the only issue I had was the roulette tables only having chips at £5 which is very extreme especially in the current climate. If you could change this back to £1 or £2 tables I would have spent the night. I understand the machines have this capability, however I do come for the experience as machines are everywhere. Just a suggestionWritten 5 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Terry JLondon, UK211 contributionsI went here to see Jo Burke perform her work in progress 'Peculiar.' Very funny and the relaxed atmosphere in the bar before and after the gig really added to the friendly feeling.
I understand that they do some free comedy gigs on a Monday evening but t may be best to book for those on their website.Written 7 April 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - AnnaPotton, UK9 contributionsI agree the place is a little run down; but it feels more faded grandeur. The play equipment was fine and we managed to kill an hour here playing. There is a little cafe and toilets tooWritten 1 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Itaewon-dongLondon 109 contributionsLost property (my lovely swimming costume) is immediately binned . This is supposedly a measure to protect against covid but is an outdated response as we now know that the virus doesn’t spread via surfaces! On the other hand they’re prepared to open the poolside sauna where social distancing is impossible to maintain.
With all that said, the Oasis is undoubtedly a gem in central London and I’ve noticed efforts to hike up the ventilation in the changing rooms, via air conditioning.Written 29 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Fortescue4 contributionsLet me be clear I am a fan of the Empire casino. Staff are amazing, drinks are high quality & cleanliness is immaculate. However… there is an online feedback survey where you are awarded some free points by way of thanks for completion.
Normally never an issue with free points which take 1 or 2 weeks to show up. Last survey I did 8 weeks ago… no points.
In the past I have detailed the one other occasion this problem occurred and the staff added the points manually.
This time round I have spoken to three 3 duty managers in 4 weeks. Each one investigated sent emails to head office & each promised the points would be added as promised.
Guess what? STILL NO points (as of today)
What is going wrong? Maybe due to change of ownership something got dropped in the transfer.
But now apparently difficult or impossible to solve!!!
At my wits end but kind of misleading a customer is bad faith & defo should NEVER be done in principle by gambling sector company.
Latest is I have been given Head Office number but for such a trivial issue I’m obviously reluctant to call them.
Aside from this I would give 5/5 wonder why this cannot be fixed at the venue end. Sigh…Written 19 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
