Castello Scaligero is an example of lakeside fortification. The castle takes its name from the Della Scala family who dominated Verona in the 14th century.

The castle is the dominant feature of the city of Sirmione and therefore it is not surprising that there is a big queue to visit it. In the castle you can see the main courtyard, surrounded by walls and towers. You can find the wet dock courtyard there too.

After visiting the Castello, take a stroll around the old town of Sirmione. There are shops, restaurants, gelaterias and pizzerias.

We went at opening time on a Sunday at the start of August, expecting it to be very busy and have long queues for the popular rides.

We were amazed to find the longest queue was around 30 mins for the Jumanji experience, the main roller coasters of oblivion, raptor and tornado had zero queue time. Zero. It literally took longer to walk to the ride itself than wait.

The park was busy but not over crowded and our 14 & 11 year old boys had a great time. We did every single ride by 4pm, including taking time for some lunch.

Lunch was the only disappointment. A very sad dry set of burgers and fries.

Notwithstanding the heat, it was fabulous to go through this area, imagining what life must have been like 2000 years ago. An area that is well preserved and worth the entrance fee.

This is a nice park but its more shows than attractions, all shows only have 1 time slot daily so if you miss the show time you an not see it again on the same day, this is due to the fact that all shows are done by the same cast throughout the day, when we went it was not busy at all, there was around 35 people in total on the park, we had time to do all the rides and shows before the closing of the park, medusa is a must see show, Magma 2.1, kitt superjet, U-571 are a must rides. Warning for U-571 you will get very wet!

And the Homes Hotel walk through scare house is recommended too.

The park is not that big to walk around and also not a lot to do for children under the age of 4 if they don't see the shows.

    WOW !!!
    What a great view !!!
We got to the top of monte-baldo by cable car. From the top you can see Lago di Garda from Sermione to Riva del Garda.
    Highly recommended !!!

We tackled the path on foot (not bike) in 32 degree heat but given the many shaded tunnels there was sufficient regular respite from the heat to make it manageable. The climb is long (not steep) and slow so no issues there and after about 45/60 mins there is a great little cafe for a pitstop. The views are amazing. Do it. You won't be disappointed :-)

This was our tenth visit to Garda and we plan to return. The lake is endlessly fascinating and there are wonderful restaurants and bars, plus a wide variety of activities, both sporting and cultural.

A tiny statue of Madonna with little Jesus appeared in the early 1500s among the branches of an ash tree, according to popular belief it was invoked by a shepherd who had just been bitten by a snake that did not die.
In 1510 a first small church was created on the site of the discovery , then during many years and many miracles the church was enlarged.
In 1518 was built a friars convent beside the church who it’s still active.
Facade with frescoed portico , above the portico a beautiful rose window completed a very simple facade .
Inside with one nave and five chapels for each side, the twos beside the central altar are bigger and protected by beautiful wrought iron gate, the one on the right contain the small statue of Madonna of ash tree with beautiful frescoe by Domenico Morone done on 16th century .
Of the same period are the beautiful paintings done by Paolo Farinati and are in the three chapels on the left side, the fourth chapel on the left is decorated by a beautiful painting of Zeno da Verona depicting Saints Peter and John dated 1541.
Unusual the central altar with beautiful pipe organ .
From a door next to the Madonna’s chapel is possible to enter in the first cloister with frescoes dated 1653 by Pietro Muttoni , the second cloister is also frescoed and all over the walls you can see mani ex voto and pictures of miraculous people .

Just stopped by to see what the place had to offer as our stay was nearby.
Was greeted by super friendly staff and complimentary wine tasting, and some facts and information about the local wineries. Service was beyond what could be expected. 10/10

We took the boat trip from Sirmione to Garda and decided on the fast service. The way out was a catamaran in the open air and was a lovely trip. The way back was a hydrofoil. Quicker and inside, it was a bit more like a bus service. Overall, though, a very nice trip and very enjoyable.

Small museum but a deep family history of wines in the region. Interesting artifacts depicting the history of wine making. A good range of wines to taste. Grab a coupon and a glass and you can taste 6 wines from a selection of red, white and rose's. You can also sample a glass of the finer ranges for around €3-4 a glass. All wines are available for purchase by the bottle, along with a small range of other items that would complement the wines.
