Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Haki3 contributionsAwesome place! It was an amazing experience watching the starry sky at bedtime! I slept very well in a very comfortable and spacious bed. It was an experience to walk in a dark but white snow covered forest. A place called Lammintupa offered wonderful experiences on Hysky and Reindeer safaris. In addition, ice karting was a great experience.
When you want to enjoy nature and experiences. Not a party place.Written 20 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Both of which we would recommend!!
I was initially very nervous and slow at driving the snowmobile however Harri reassured me and I was soon whizzing along.
Loved going over the frozen lakes.
Our younger children loved being towed in the sled.Written 20 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Highly recommend to buy the 5x ticket as first time you probably take it easy and once you get excited, want to try it again. 😊Written 13 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I would not recommend it.Written 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jiro2 contributionsWe had an AWESOME vacation. Excellent place to stay and experience the real Finnish culture. We did river floating, ice fishing, snowshoe walking, reindeer feeding and ofcourse the most fun activity of all: snowmobiling (introduction and trip to the Russian border). The trip to the Russian border really is a must do! You drive through the most beautiful winter landscape you've ever seen with very high trees completely covered in snow which become spectacular sculptures. The speed is also quite a bit higher (if you want) and when crossing the lakes they allow you to go full throttle (101 kmh measured on GPS :-). All guides are very kind and have lots of knowledge. I can also recommend the breakfast. Totally awesome holiday and a well earned 5 star review for Ruka Safaris!Written 17 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hannah DNewcastle Upon Tyne7 contributionsThis day was the highlight of our finland trip. The farm is beautiful and our guide was so friendly, knowledgeable, patient and above all his love and care for his animals shone through. He was such a cool guy!! "Awesomeness!!!" The dogs are beautiful! Happy and well cared for and you can see the love! It was a very special experience for me and a very kind lady in the gift shop (I didn't catch her name!) Really made my birthday visit extra special and something I will never ever forget. A truly wonderful place, wonderful experience! Don't leave Finland without a visit!!Written 1 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Stuart HNewmarket, UK85 contributionsBase eat heat opened in December and sits in an unrivalled location up on Ruka Fell, over looking the Ski slopes.
As a regular to Ruka Ski Resort for the last 15 years I was looking forward to eating at this restaurant, thinking it's just what the resort needed.
I booked the restaurant via the Internet, and requested a table by the window on the booking, so we could enjoy the views over dinner.
On our arrival our greeting was not exactly warming. I highlighted that I had requested a table by the window and was told a table by the window wasn't available despite one being empty, and clearly available. I was early for our booking so offered to wait and have a drink to see if a table became free, but was told in an almost "it's just tough" attitude that one won't become available. I wanted to leave and go elsewhere, a point I made clear the member of staff, but my wife said we should stay.
Within about 10 mins of us taking our table, an additional two tables against the window had become free.
These two tables, and the one that was already free when arrived, remained free throughout the duration of our meal. It may just be coincidence, but it was noted that all the preferred tables by the windows where occupied by, what appeared to be Finnish customers, despite the restaurant being used by numerous non Finnish customers.
The menu here is quite limited. For starters I had Salmon Soup with Rye Bread, and my wife had Beetroot Risotto. My wife said she enjoyed her starter. Mine was ok. But nothing exciting, albeit the Salmon was cooked well.
For mains, my wife had the Chicken Hibachi Bowl, which was a skewer of grilled chicken on spicy rice, vegetables, pickles, nuts, yogurt and mayonnaise. I had a Reuben Sandwich and chips. My wife enjoyed her main but left son of the rice. Mine was ok, however was under seasoned with me having to asked for some salt.
Total cost, with a bottle of white wine was €164.
Overall meal was ok, probably not worth the money, and based on my experience, unless you are Finnish you are unlikely get one of the premium tables by the window.
I did explain our disappointment to staff at the end of our meal.Written 5 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bryan BStockport, UK3 contributionsCannot recommend Hard Trek highly enough. Antti and the team at hard Trek Cafe gave us an experience to remember for the rest of our lives. They tailored a snow mobile safari experience for us via email prior to out trip to Finland and delivered and amazing journey through the frozen forests of Ruka. Really genuine, sincere people who love what they do. A truly wonderful, warm and contemporary cafe with great food and drinks also awaits at the end of Ruka Trek safaris. Would very much love to visit again soon. Many, many thanks.Written 1 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hanneke G13 contributionsVery nice experience, fly like superman!
You first need to buy tickets for the skilift to Ruka Peak, and than you buy tickets for the Zipline, and afterwards you need a ticket for the gondola lift to go down to valley or village.
So €12,50 extra for return tickets for the skilift + gondolaWritten 9 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
