Great experience doing both the whiskey and gin tours here! Interesting tours and tasting sessions (plenty to try) but what really made Bruichalldich stand out was the welcoming staff. My husband and I took turns doing the tours and looking after our new baby and the staff were so lovely making us and baby comfortable in the shop area whilst waiting for the other. Highly recommend and thanks! :)

If you are on Islay and want to visit a distillery, this is it.

Unlike most distilleries, which have a factory-type feel, this is family business, based on a farm. While most distilleries buy barley ready-malted, Kilchoman has its own fields of barley and malts its own. (It does need to buy in some malted barley, but it grows as much as it can.)

There is a spacious tasting room with cafe and coffee shop. Kilchoman in inland, up some narrow roads, but well worth the journey.

My friend and her little girl (aged 10) spent a very happy afternoon pony-trekking at Rockside Farm.

The staff were careful, attentive and clearly well-trained. The ponies were well looked after and very well-behaved. The route to and from and along the beach was perfect for a gentle trek. Despite rather 'Hebridean' weather they both thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

All-in-all two happy pony-trekkers and a great attraction.
