I want to go back there for the second time. A ride of one to two hours and a hike of one hour.
There are two falls, and it's in the midst of a forest. The first contains shallow water but small falls, while the second has big falls that can be slides that descend into shallow water.
A great and thrilling feature is that the second falls have a cave that you must crawl into to enter (no one knows what's inside), and number two, there is a small stream of water that is extremely salty, or so they claim, like seawater.
I went there, 5 years ago.
In general, buddies will have a great time there.
I still to ask my friends for pictures soon.

- Dan GPerryville, Arkansas, United States28 contributionsMt Mayapay is a dominant feature in the Butuan City landscape. You cant miss it when you are exiting the airport. To climb Mayapay takes some planning. You have to get permission from the local military commander in Butuan City. This requires an official letter to the commander which he needs to sign for you to carry with you. The reason for this is the army has a camp at the top of the mountain and they want to be informed about any "visitors" and make sure people are safe when climbing. Next having a guide is a good idea...we located Vincet and his 2 sons to show us the way up. We started from the cell tower side (east) at 4 am, had a short rest at Vincent's house and then proceeded up a trail on the south facing side. the view of Butuan Bay was magnificent as was the sunrise. We could see all the way to Camiguin Island. About 100 meters before the summit the path along a cliff face ran out and Vincent started leading us up through the bush. I had shorts and and rubber shoes on...and by this time it was clear that long pants and hiking boots were needed. By this time it was past 7 am so we turned around and left the summit for another day. The trail is steep in many parts and I spent a lot of time on my butt sliding down. - Mysterious X43 contributionsIt was my first time to visit Butuan and stayed in a hotel near Guingona Park. I noticed that there are so many people stayed in this park from morning till night. It is surrounded by a church, restaurants, hotels and a lot more. - Addicted2AsiaUSA120 contributionsThere is no single "Nipa Wine Distillery" as such. Contrary to what you might gather from the guide books and other sources, there are many Distilleries located in the low, swampy area northwest of Butuan City where the Nipa grows in abundance. The people there welcome you openly as they do not get many foreign visitors. Not much english is spoken, however. Most of them are accessible only by walking though the area on wet, muddy paths, but a couple can be reached by trike.
These are small family operations and gives you a glimpse into everyday life of these people. Yes, the area is rustic and not very clean, but this is the reality of the conditions these people live under. They make the "wine" the same way they did 200 years ago and perhaps longer! I received samples when asked and was able to purchase from several of the distilleries I visited.
If your looking for a sanitized tourist experience, don't go.
