Our visit to Signal Hill was part of a half day tour with McCarthy's Party. It was one of the highlights of our visit to St. John's.

Cape Spear is the closest point of North America to Europe, so should be visited just on that basis. But it also features beautiful coastal scenery and a spectacular lighthouse. When we visited we also learned of the military history of this location during World War II.
A very enjoyable location to visit in many respects!

Very good museum covering different eras in Newfoundland history. Well laid out and friendly staff.
As a bonus, have lunch in their restaurant with the best view of St. John's harbour and the Narrows entrance in the city!

Simply spectacular! Awesome views over the rocky coast and the Atlantic Ocean, different levels of difficulty and length. Two days of hiking and on both days we saw whales. First day a few feet away from shore and out in the ocean, second out in a bay. Wish I could have done more hiking during my stay.

Colorful row of buildings. Was great to see this in person after seeing only pictures of it. However, one of the buildings badly needed painted. I know this is tough times with Covid but I would have thought such an icon of Newfoundland would have been better maintained. Still definitely worth going to see though!

Beautiful and moving tribute to a Canadian hero. About a 20-25 minute walk from downtown. Very informative.

Beer was excellent, service by Sarah excellent. Food was mixed. Fish good, fries. ok, cauliflower bites not cooked long enough and the paprika or whatever it is overdone.

Funky place with good atmosphere good beer and spectacular view. Worth going but don’t go for the food!

Even a visit during the day is a worthwhile experience for a bite to eat, a drink and taking in the art and design of this small part of the city. Get there early in the day and you may see the 'clean up" from the party the night before.

Quidi Vidi is a lovely little fishing village right next to the St.John's urban centre (just over the hill).
We visited on a rainy morning and found refuge in the well-known Quidi Vidi Brewing Company's upper deck, under shelter with overhead heating and a great view of the harbour. Our waiter was excellent and the beers were delicious!

50 years ago when I visited St. John's last, Signal Hill was the highlight of the trip and what I remember the most (along with the warmth and friendliness of the Newfies). It was wonderful being back and seeing the view again. The view is incredible with the city of St. John's in one direction and the ocean in the other direction. If you don't have your own transportation, choose the Hop on/Hop off bus over taxis.

The ceiling and the stained glass windows are not to be missed. Also, we had an informal tour and historical background from one of the parishioners who was there in the afternoon that we visited. Frankly, we may not have gone there, except that it was raining, and I feel lucky that we were able to see it. Also, the sculpture of the Veiled Virgin is in the convent next door, and that is definitely not to be missed; it is one of the premier artworks in North America.

One of the best city parks I've seen with a fantastic easy walking trail through the park. Nice mix of woodsy views, streams, waterfall and more.

We walked out to Quidi Vidi from downtown early in the morning and decided to take a hike before the brewery opened. We hiked up a few of the different trails and the views were stunning! Some of the trails were harder than others - if you go straight up, that one is much more gradual, if you go to the right when you first start, that one is a bit rougher but incredible!

Very informative tour of the vault. Danielle our guide was very good. We went early in the morning before it got busy. That end of Water street is pretty quiet. It was cool to see some original artifacts. A small sample of Port wine at the end. It was good.
