What travellers are saying
- kaz1061Blackpool, UK267 contributionsThere is lot of work going on here so some of the works wont be ready until 2025. I am sure the last time I visited here you where allowed on the trains but you were not this time, so you could only see them from ladder if they one against the train. there was model railway which I though it was good. The museum is free but still worth a visit. Be prepared for quite a walk to the museum.Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Izabela WNottingham, UK165 contributionsAmazing architecture, and amazing work of crafts-with wood, stones, marbles, glass.
Well presented from outside and inside.Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. And ans the sun came out, we managed to enjoy coffee annd ice creams while the kids playing in the field behind the cafe. Brilliant, helpful staff who helped me find the coats we had misplaced in the madness and excitement of arriving in the playhive. ❤️Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lauren1479 contributionsLoved visiting this museum, mainly for the prison and the experience of walking through the made-up street with the old shop fronts, sounds and smells! The other parts are a bit hit and miss, depends what you're interested in. The main downfall was the entrance into the museum. We had pre-booked tickets which was meant to 'avoid the queue' but once the doors opened it was flooded with people and no staff to ask whether there were any separate queues for pre-booked tickets. We waisted quite a lot of time in one huge queue where tourist groups were having to process several individual bookings.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lisa M5 contributionsWalking through The Shambles feels like a captivating journey through time, where the charming cobblestone streets whisper tales of centuries past.
Lined with timber framed buildings, adorned with vibrant shopfronts, it is a picturesque haven for those seeking a blend of culture and quaintness. Navigating its narrow lanes feels like stepping into a storybook, where each building tells a unique chapter of York’s rich history.
The Shambles effortlessly preserves its medieval charm, making it a must visit destination for anyone yearning to experience the timeless beauty of this enchanting city.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Wanderer622789169541 contributionReally fab tour given by TC :) I loved his sense of humour and how informative he was. We live locally so have been a few times. The last tour we did the guide had such a strong Yorkshire accent I struggled to understand (I am a southerner after all ;)))) although the tour was still enjoyable. All in all a fab day and this time got to see the new stable yard, the horses (one windy one :;) and the play area …..thank youWritten 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - meopi76Dolgellau, UK163 contributionsA pleasant, easy walk with good city views. It was mostly paved and therefore safe to manoeuvre with just a few steps to get up and down. The wall briefly ceases to exist in a few places and I sometimes had to search for the next stage.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Floppy_12311 contributionsThis was spectacular. The artefacts were amazing. You could even see what it looked like back in Viking times. But the blue seats that take you around were broken.
