I recommend taking a tour because the local guides are very knowledgeable and they usually pair the tour of Tulum up with a cenote (water filled cave) or another park like Xel Ha.
It is laid out well and the tour guides seem very knowledgeable if you choose to take a guided tour.

You get to see monkeys, partake in a Mayan prayer with a shaman, take a canoe trip, do a zip line across a like, repel and swim in a cenote, and hear stories of the land... all over 2 1/2 hours and for a bargain.

The water of the lagoon is fresh, maybe a little bit cold , if you are an experienced diver you can go diving in the cenote that is in the center of the lagoon, the perimeter is perfectly delimited.

I recommend that you take a guided tour of Tulum because the guides are very knowledgeable and they usually include another tour to a cenote (water filled cave) or to another park like Xel Ha.
The Mayan ruins on the headland, the mystery and beauty of the ancient site, the white sand and aquamarine water, backed up by lush jungle plants puts the experience over the top.

Eleazar did a fantastic with the tour, he also told us about how important it is to preserve the caves and the wildlife in the area and how important the caves are to the Mayans and there descendants.
The water is crystal clear and you will see a lot of fish and other wildlife as well as the intriguing geological features of stalagmites and stalactites.

What an amazing cenote with the Mayan people on site (Living and working) and a person gets a real sense of the history of the area as well as being able to marvel at the cenote itself.
Definitely pay the extra 50 pesos for the guided tour - you’ll get to see more of the Cenote, and it includes your snorkel gear and underwater flashlight.

A great Cenote for a simple days snorkelling, take a dive or waterproof torch to see the small bats nestled in the caves above the water, also a good camera for the turtles.
... available, option of renting a locker for 30pesos /have your ID with you!/ you can either swim in a slightly crowded cave, where you have a chance to see turtles or relax on the artificial grass and hammocks.

We had a great time rappelling into a cenote, zip lining (especially number three where you land in water!) and snorkelling in a cenote.
The activities, jungle surroundings and helpful polite charming staff all made for a must day in Riviera Maya.

Beautiful stretch of white sand beach with a cenote that enters the ocean to experience some "thermocline" Also a jungle cenote for a different swim.
You can walk the beach, swim in the salt water cenote, relax on the lounge chairs, listen to music from the DJ, have food and drinks served by the staff of the Beach Club.

Cenote Temple of Doom is a Cenote where you can go cavern diving, swimming or snorkeling.
Liked this cenote scuba experience better than Car Wash; would liked to have hung out for swimming here, too.
