What travellers are saying
- Anne V2 contributionsOur city tour barely stopped here - so glad we went back and walked around ourselves the next day. You don't need a tour guide, its just a nice boardwalk with shops and people watching. Safe and touristy.Written 18 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Helen LopezEl Centro57 contributionsThe food is excellent, the price is cheap and the viow is extraordinary. Only issue is the elevator is old and was out for 4 days and the restaurant is on the 4th floor.Written 5 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- digitalrocCalgary, Canada1,320 contributionsCommonly referred to as “Old Town”, this area is the heart of PV. It has some of the better restaurants in PV and there is lots to do here. If you’re not staying in the area, best to come down during the late morning on one day, then again in the evening on another day to really get a flavor of Old Town. You’ll know when you’re in Old Town, as it is on the south side of the Rio Cuale which divides the town.Written 15 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- moodymcsuemoodymcsue90 contributionsWe look forward to our visits to Act2 PV every time we visit Puerto Vallarta. We have seen full musicals, musical tributes, and the amazing drag performances - all great. This time we saw Tina, starring Diana Villamonte, Queen of Vallarta. Diana’s banter, her singing, and the accompaniment of beautiful and talented dancers made the show a standout for us. The costumes, choreography, staging, sound and lighting were top-notch. Best of all, we enjoyed the show in the open-air stage that they have created on the roof of the theatre building. From the moment we contacted the theatre to book our tickets, up through to the end of the show, we received the warmest and most professional reception. This is a place for stunning talent and lots and lots of heart. Truly a hidden gem. If you see one show, you’ll be like us, and return every time you visit this beautiful city.Written 22 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Keith MBangkok, Thailand96 contributionsThere are lots of bars and restaurants around the marina. We tried the El Torito, whihc is near the main entrance of the marina from the main highway. They had a rib promotion going during the week days. These ribs were excellent. I am not a big rib fan, but these were outstanding. We doubled the order and took them away for lunch and dinner the next day!Written 23 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- CalmjohnLeavenworth, KS4,616 contributionsJust a beautiful spot to stand gaze and enjoy. Perhaps one of the most photographed spots around Puerto Vallarta. A placeof beauty for all to enjoy.Written 15 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- tereztravelsCanada185 contributionsWe visited twice and it was always crowded, but not too uncomfortably. It's a fun place with lots of great restaurants and watching the ocean and the people makes for an entertaining time. Sunsets are stunning here!Written 25 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- endlesssummer06Rohnert Park, CA30 contributionsFor those of you that enjoy working out at the gym, via Stairmaster, take a day off and come here instead. Better work out with an amazing view, everyone should come here one/two times. Guaranteed you will love it.Written 20 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Sarah L5 contributionsWe loved our time at Chicabal. So many beautiful people!
We went on Sunday right as they were opening. It started off very chill, and we were happy for that because we were hungover from the night before. Our servers Michele and Abraham were kind and attentive. Actually, everyone was kind and attentive, even the bathroom attendants Ana and Carlos. The place was very clean, and the music was fun. Towards the end of the night it got more wild and upbeat. If you are there with a bunch of girlfriends order the special ice cream sundae that gets you more than just ice cream ;). It gets you a special dance from the beautiful moreno model.
Highly recommend for those that enjoy more of a luxurious club experience.Written 25 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Malcolm A2 contributionslovely local beach to relax and chill out, good for families and food service available. i was there over Xmas/New Year and not over crowded.Written 6 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- andycoldhamCrawley, UK825 contributionsfabulous place to visit, it is known locally at the sail and make sure you visit twice as during the day you can watch fishermen landing their catch, and in the evening the sail lights up and changes colour. Its located in downtown and is surrounded by restaurants, bars and shops. The pier is also the base for water taxis to Yelapa and at $21 us return it is bar far the cheapest way to get there. Perfect place to people and boat watch as well as seeing the pelicans flying around.Written 15 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Michael D7 contributionsWonderful! Saw the Gaga experience and was delighted. What a performance! The choreography was excellent, the singer amazing, we went last year for Leslie Jordan and had an equally great time. Highly recommend!Written 22 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- andycoldhamCrawley, UK825 contributionsThe island sits between the romantic zone and the old town is generally a large market area, the vendors are very happy to chat and not at all pushy, and there are some great photo opportunities , with interesting statues/murals. As it is a real island access is by bridge, there is a large modern bridge near the sea but half way up the island there are a couple of wooden suspension bridges and at the far end, furthest from the sea is a long staircase, and if you proceed up it to the top you will arrive at the former home of Richard Burton and Liz Taylor which is now a hotel.
I am told that their prices in the market are inflated on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays ( the days that cruise ships docks ) but I could not substantiate this.Written 15 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - David DDevon, UK15,337 contributionsThursday 3rd February and we took a taxi from our Hotel, Riu Palace Pacifico, in Nuevo Vallarta, into Puerto Vallarta, a distance of 24 kilometres, about 45 minute drive. We were on a sightseeing and exploring mission.
Our adventure began in the downtown area of the City, known as El Centro it is packed with historical and cultural buildings, interesting and amusing statues & sculptures an amazing promenade. The cobbled streets are lined with shops, markets, bars, restaurants and cafes.
Not sure where the area starts, so we made the assumption that it was by the first Sculpture we encountered, The Millennia Statue. Centro stretches from there down as far the River, Rio Cuale.
We walked along the famous seafront promenade, The Malecón runs alongside Playa Malecón. From here there are views of the beach and across the amazing Bay of Banderas. The beachside of the walkway is populated with numerous sculptures and statues. Some are more easily interpreted and less abstract than others, but all worth a quick stop and a look.
The other side of the walkway is filled with shops, cafés, bars, restaurants and so much more.
We even encountered a lighthouse, Faro de Calle de Matamoros, another oddity along the way.
One of the most exciting elements is the display by the Papantla Fliers, awesome and not to be missed.
Our walk took us to the Plaza De Armas, with its small Bandstand, iconic arches and the Naval Museum nearby.
We did venture off the Malecon and explored some of the streets where we discovered the Municipal Market. We also visited the amazing Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe) with it's famous tower.
There is so much more to be said, however the best thing is to visit and explore this wonderful vibrant area.Written 9 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
