Dominican Republic is renowned for its beautiful and clean beaches, and I got to experience it firsthand for the first time. I will definitely consider going back there again.

I visited this beach at the end of a cultural tour and it was the perfect ending to a lovely day!

It is well worth the effort it takes to drive to this beach located off the main road towards Las Galeras in Samana Province, Dominican Republic. Look for the sign on the left if you're coming from Samana immediately after you pass the Texaco station (a great place for bathroom pit stops and snacks). There are two parts to this beach. You want to turn RIGHT. If you get to the end of the road and turn left, you will find the part of the beach more developed and heavily used by locals.

Turn right, and slowly wind your way down the beach. Enjoy the sheer natural beauty as you drive through the palm-tree lined road in the sand. This gorgeous beach is typically uncrowded, and has a small, rustic restaurant which serves delicious food including chicken and traditional fried whole fish. You must try the pescado entero frito while in the D.R.! If you come across someone selling pan de coco (Dominican coconut bread) try that, too, especially if it’s still warm.

This beach has toilets, but you are better off stopping at the Texaco station first. Some of the beach chairs are in better shape than others, but expect to pay about 100 pesos (two bucks) to use each one. Bring towels and a cooler, and plenty of sunscreen. For those not used to tropical vacations, you can get a trip-ruining sunburn in about fifteen minutes of unprotected direct sun.

Yes, the vendors can be aggressive but please remember this is how they feed their families, so don’t be cheap if you are buying something. A simple, “No, gracias,” should keep them moving.

If you are visiting Las Galeras, Las Terrenas, Samana Town, or staying anywhere on Samana Province, this beach is an absolute must-see.

We're locals, and we ask that you please do us and your fellow visitors a favor: skip the obnoxious ATV tour of this beach. This is the last place anyone should ever drive an ATV. Why spoil the tranquility for someone else with a loud, stinky, polluting vehicle? Have some consideration for nature, too. Thank you.

I really liked Sosua Beach. The water was gorgeously blue, and the scenery was breathtaking. When it comes to hotels, there is a lot to choose from ranging from some that are pretty close to the beach to some that are a little farther away. As for the restaurants along the beach, they didn’t seem to offer much vegetarian options, and I rarely saw running water or stoves. I would recommend walking around the city and eating at one of those restaurants even if they might be a little further away from the beach. There were many gift shops, and there seemed to be a lot of activities to do such as diving and boat rentals. Overall, Sosua was a pretty nice beach for a nice vacation.

    One of the most beautiful beaches that I have been to. It's an 14 minute drive with atvs from Playa Las Ballenas. It was very quiet and desolate. We didn't see any places to get food or drinks; except for this one local joint with a sign on a palm tree advertising fish, lobster, shrimp, beer and piña coladas ( avoid at all costs }

Very nice swimming with only small waves and very clean water. You can see lots of fishes in the shallow water.

The beach is great and filled with locals and tourist. The local workers on the beach are a bit aggressive in selling merchandise and food; however there are private options like the Pelican resort and the new Hyatt that should open up in a few months. Those options you get a day pass. And use the beach area with food and drink options. We did the Pelican !

Our recent visit to Bahía de las Águilas was an unforgettable experience. We stayed in a charming house in Los Patos and spent a peaceful night there. The following morning, we drove to Cabo Rojo and booked a tour at Rancho Típico Cueva de las Águilas restaurant.

After enjoying a delightful lunch at the restaurant, we embarked on our tour. The journey to Bahía de las Águilas took approximately 15 minutes, and we were captivated by the beauty of the destination. The captain was exceptional—highly professional and incredibly welcoming. His hospitality made our experience even more enjoyable.

Bahía de las Águilas is an extraordinary beach, unparalleled on the island. The pristine waters and stunning scenery make it a must-visit location. We highly recommend this tour for anyone seeking a remarkable and memorable adventure.

This Island is truly paradise in the middle of the ocean. The only down side is that because its so small, there aer a lot of people there all at one time and when there is a group that is all about drinking, its very loud and not really enjoyable. Great snorkeling here. Water is pristine. It would be great if the trips of different companies were spaced out so that they don't all overlap at the same time.

Beautiful beach near Boca Chica and Santo Domingo. It is worth the drive to enjoy the beach. The restaurant staff hustle to ensure you are seated and dine with them. The locals want you to see their unique merchandise. We really enjoyed our time here. The food was better than our first day, at another restaurant, but the taxes are the same.

At the end part of playa El Portillo is located Kite Beach. One of the best kitesurfing spot in Dominican Republic. It's not crowded, the water is flat and the wind stable. Amazing place to learn water sports.

This lovely beach is in El Limon, Samana Province, not Las Terrenas. It is within driving distance of Las Terrenas, Samana, Las Galeras, and the big nearby resorts. The easiest way to find it is by GPS. But keep driving past the public part of Playa Moron and head towards Cap El Limon restaurant instead. When you get to the big white resort wall gates, let the guard know you are going to the restaurant. You will be able to park your vehicle there as well as enjoy beach chairs and umbrellas. They will bring drinks and food to your umbrella, too!

This is a very pretty beach and relatively luxurious compared to other local beaches as far as amenities like toilets and outdoor showers. The restaurant has good food and spectacular views. You will find decent snorkeling near the rocky shore to the right of the cove. This is a great place to spend a lazy afternoon in the sun and waves, and to grab a nice dinner before heading back to your lodging!

We stayed at the Imperial Suites which is the end of the "kite beach" area. Still, the surfers were easily spotted, We had so much fun watching the boarders flying and sometimes wiping out! The resort had dining available inside or beachside (a la carte) and a meal plan is available if that's your thing. Our stay was walking distance to the supermarket and pharmacy. I didn't cook but the 1 bedroom had everything if I had wanted to. Enjoyed the pool, the fourth floor gym, and the variety of pool beds with a view of the beach (gratis). My husband and I took the tour in exchange for a free breakfast. Low pressure - I really liked getting to see the penthouse!
